On February 23, in response to the sudden death of an employee surnamed Wu on the Internet, ByteDance's intranet issued an announcement confirming the sudden death of a 28-year-old employee.

In recent years, similar sudden death incidents of office workers have occurred frequently, in addition to the Internet industry, which is recognized as a high work intensity, similar incidents have been exposed in transportation and other industries.

According to the latest "2021 Enterprise Employee Health White Paper" (hereinafter referred to as the "White Paper") released by Shandia, for employee health, 74.9% of enterprises in the industry provide employees with multiple physical examination packages or optional examination items, but these items still cannot meet the health needs of employees, but in terms of physical examination, the actual completion rate of the whole industry is only 66.7%.

The data source of the "White Paper" is the enterprise customers and their employees and their families of the 2021 good diagnosis and physical examination business services, and the industries are distributed in 8 categories, of which the high-tech, consumer goods retail and commercial service industries are the most concentrated, with a total of more than 60% of the total. The sample population was the largest in the age group of 25-35, with 35-45 times, accounting for 81.3% of the total, and the total average age was 36 years old.

The "White Paper" shows that in terms of expenditure on employee health, the per capita budget statistical results of employee health examinations in 2021 show that the financial and insurance industries are the highest, reaching 1064 yuan; the business service industry and the pharmaceutical and medical device industries are second, 639 yuan and 636 yuan, respectively; while the high-tech industry is low, at 431 yuan. The health examination budget of employees in different industries is mostly concentrated at 300-800 yuan, of which 39.4% of enterprises have a health examination budget of 300-500 yuan, and 37.6% of enterprises are 500-800 yuan. In addition, 80% of enterprises have begun to provide employees with equally valuable health services in addition to medical examinations.

However, the completion rate of employees participating in the medical examination services purchased by enterprises for them is not high, and the completion rate of the whole industry is only 61.9%. Among them, the financial and insurance industries have the highest budgets but the lowest employee completion rates of 61.9%,; consumer goods retail and high-tech industries have the second and third-lowest completion rates, only 64.4% and 66.1%, respectively; and the transportation/transportation/logistics industry has the highest completion rates of 81.5%.

In addition, the data of the "White Paper" also shows that when the per capita budget of the enterprise is less than 300 yuan, the actual completion rate of employees is the highest, reaching 71.3%. When the per capita budget of the physical examination services purchased by the enterprise for the employees is 800-2000 yuan, the actual completion rate of the employees of the enterprise ranks second.

In terms of test results, the number of abnormalities in the per capita physical examination index of the whole industry is 8.4. The number of abnormal indicators per employee in the financial and insurance industries was the highest, reaching 10.0; the number of abnormal indicators per capita in the high-tech industry was the lowest, at 7.4.

In addition, the physical examination package with a per capita budget of 300-500 yuan can cover routine examination items and basic examination items for some high-incidence diseases. Therefore, employees of enterprises with medical examination packages within this budget range prefer to choose additional paid examination items according to the nature of their work or health status on this basis. Among these additional paid tests that require self-selection, thyroid function testing and tumor marker screening are high-frequency options for employees across multiple industries.

Accordingly, some industries still need to strengthen the publicity and use of employee health examination benefits and the introduction of the process, and improve employees' awareness of the necessity of health examinations.
