Recently, the charging head network got a SONY Sony 30W PD fast charger, which supports PD3.0 and PPS fast charging protocols, and the maximum output power is 30W. Although there are many related products that Sony can talk about, it is still rare as far as the charger is concerned, so it is worth taking it apart and looking at. Then let's go with Xiaobian to feel the design and workmanship of Sony chargers.
First, sony 30W charger appearance
The charger adopts a classic straight plate shape design, and the surface of the PC material shell is frosted.
The input end adopts fixed GB pins.
The front of the fuselage is designed with the SONY brand logo.
Charger parameter information is printed on the back
Model: AC-0540-CN
Input: 100-240V~50/60HZ 1A
Output: 5V3A, 9V3A, 15V2A
PPS:3.3-3A 9.9W
16V-1.85A 29.6W
The product has passed the CCC certification.
The top surface is equipped with a single USB-C interface, centered design, and the words USB PD and 30W are printed on the top and bottom of the interface.
The measured charger body height was 53.99mm.
The width is 36.86mm.
The thickness is 28.98mm.
Compared with the Apple 30W charger, the volume is smaller.
Intuitive feeling in the hand.
Net weight is approximately 64g.
The USB-C port was measured by using the Chargelab POWER-Z KT002 to support PD3.0 and PPS fast charging protocols.
And with 5V3A, 9V3A, 15V2A three sets of fixed voltage gears, as well as 3.3-11V3A and 3.3-16V2A two sets of PPS voltage gears.
Second, Sony 30W charger disassembly
The shell is disassembled, and the solid capacitors on both sides of the output are reinforced, and you can see that there is also a thermal pad under the PCB board.
The measured module length is 48mm.
The width is 32.33mm.
The thickness is 20.25mm.
At a glance of the front of the motherboard, the front and rear devices are glued and reinforced.
At a glance on the back of the board, there is a switching power supply main control chip with a rectifier bridge and a PI, and the USB-C socket pin on the output side has a TVS for overvoltage protection to prevent electrostatic breakdown and damage to internal components.
It was observed that the charger adopts the QR switching power supply architecture, and the protocol chip outputs the voltage through the I2C bus control interface. Let's start with the inputs to understand the information of each device.

Charging head net disassembly summary
Sony's 30W charger features a classic straight-panel shape with a frosted casing. The charger supports PD3.0, PPS fast charging protocol, with 5V3A, 9V3A, 15V2A three sets of fixed voltage gears, as well as 3.3-11V3A and 3.3-16V2A two sets of PPS voltage gears, both can charge their own brand mobile phones, Apple, Samsung and other third-party brand mobile phones also have good compatibility.
Through disassembly, the charger adopts the classic QR switching power supply architecture design, uses the PI INN3368C high-integrated power supply master control chip, and the WT6635P protocol chip controls the output voltage. In addition, the use of Aihua, Yubang two brands of capacitors for input and output filtering, the overall material workmanship is solid and reliable.
