Enlarge the cervix and still pinch the flesh? What is the use of this "frightening" gynecological examination?

At the party, XiaoYa, my girlfriend, told me about her "thrilling" gynecological examination experience last year.

After asking her permission, I wrote about her experience and hoped to give some help to more sisters.

Xiao Ya narrated:

A week before the New Year, I went to the hospital to retrieve the colposcopy and cervical tissue pathology report sheet, saw the normal results shown above, and finally sighed a long sigh, a big stone in my heart landed, and I could live a comfortable year.

In the car back, I carefully looked at the colposcopy report again, and suddenly wanted to laugh, but I didn't expect that the only photo I spent money on this year was a "photo" taken for the cervix.

In the past year, I have been busy at work, and my body has also had some small conditions from time to time, and I have had several colds and coughs. However, because I was young and had a good foundation, the physical examination that should have been done at the beginning of the year was also dragged to the end of the year by me.

After the physical examination report came out, what I did not expect was that the cervical HPV examination actually found a high-risk type of HPV positive, and TCT also suggested low-grade intraepithelial lesions.

I was terrified when I got this report, thinking of the previous times of intercourse, and some vaginal bleeding, should not be...

I hung up the gynecological expert number of the top three hospitals as soon as possible, and when I saw the doctor, I was probably too nervous at the time, and the first sentence asked: Am I suffering from cervical cancer?

The doctor explained to me that this was just a preliminary screening and that the situation was not so serious, and suggested that I do a colposcopic biopsy to further confirm the diagnosis, although I don't know what colposcopy is, but it is always right to listen to the doctor.

After doing a vaginal discharge examination and testing various indicators with blood, I finally entered the colposcopy room nervously.

Like a gynecological examination, I lay on the examination bed and the doctor helped me with an electronic magnifying glass.

Images of the vaginal wall and cervix under the magnifying glass were also transmitted in real time to a display screen on my side, which I could see as soon as I tilted my head.

During the examination, although there was no obvious pain, I still felt a little uncomfortable, and it was even more uncomfortable because I was very nervous.

Fortunately, the examining doctor was very patient, moved gently, taught me to breathe deeply, and the nurse next to me also chatted with me to help me relieve my nervousness.

After about 5 minutes, the doctor told me that I needed to take some tissue in the direction of the cervix at 3 o'clock and 10 o'clock for pathology, and I did not feel pain, and the doctor told me to finish.

After that, I felt my lower abdomen fall a little, and I felt like Aching and swelling like painful menstruation.

After doing it, the doctor stuffed the gauze to stop the bleeding, let it be removed after 24 hours, and specially explained that if there was more bleeding after taking the yarn, it was necessary to go to the hospital immediately. Finally, he was prescribed a box of anti-inflammatory drugs and let him go home for oral administration.

When I returned home after the examination, I was all kinds of nervous, anxious emotions that lasted until I went to the hospital to get a report.

Fortunately, the pathological results are normal, this examination also gave me a wake-up call, usually stay up late, exercise should also be regular, the physical examination should be done in time.

The above is Xiao Ya's colposcopic biopsy experience this time, which is really thrilling.

Speaking of colposcopy, Zhimei has also sorted out some questions that everyone is more concerned about, if you are also interested, you can read the following content well.

Colposcopy is like a special magnifying glass for cervical examination, enlarging suspicious lesions in the cervix and making the lesion more intuitive.

The examining doctor first places the speculum inside the vagina and looks closely through the colposcope, which does not touch the subject's body.

Because it is difficult to determine the lesion site under the naked eye, doctors apply a 3% acetic acid solution to the cervix, which identifies abnormal tissues and iodine to determine the extent of the lesion [1,2].

If the doctor finds a suspicious area, a very small part of the cervical tissue will be removed for pathological examination, and there may be a slight pain or "clamping" sensation during the process.

Colposcopy is not a routine part of a physical examination, and it is not necessary to check in any situation. Colposcopy comes in handy when:

(1) The results of anti-cancer screening are abnormal, such as:

HPV negative, abnormal TCT;

HPV positive, abnormal TCT;

Positive for HPV16/18.

(2) If there are symptoms or signs of suspected cervical cancer, abnormal bleeding of the lower genital tract, bleeding after repeated sexual intercourse or vaginal discharge for unknown reasons, the doctor determines that colposcopy is needed after examination.

(3) HPV-related diseases in the vulva or vaginal wall.

(4) There are cervical ulcers, masses, vegetations or perianal lesions [3,4].

Before inspection:

Avoid sexual activity, vaginal douching and vaginal medication for at least 1-2 days;

Avoid menstrual periods, generally after 3-7 days of clean menstruation;

Acute cervical inflammation and vaginal inflammation should be treated first and then examined;

Perimenopausal women, or in patients with atrophic changes in the epithelium of the lower genital tract due to decreased estrogen levels, may receive topical estrogen intravaginal application for one week prior to examination [1,2].

After inspection:

After 24 hours, the vaginal gauze is removed in time, the vaginal bleeding is observed, and if necessary, return to the hospital for treatment;

Don't rush to do strenuous exercise, step by step;

Avoid tubing and co-sleeping for two weeks to promote wound healing and prevent infection;

Take the medical examination report for follow-up consultation in time and decide the next treatment plan.

Finally, Zhimei would like to remind that colposcopy needs to be done in a regular hospital in order to correctly grasp the indications for examination, and to make professional image judgments and take biopsies in the correct parts.

Some irregular hospitals, before allowing patients to do cervical cancer screening (HPV + TCT), first let the colposcopy, and even deliberately exaggerate cervical lesions during examination, inducing patients to do cervical surgery, which is not right.

Unnecessary colposcopy may cause potential harm to women's psychology, increase the fear of examination, affect the enthusiasm for re-cancer screening, and may also affect women's "sexual bliss" life [3].

In this case, learn to recognize according to the method that Zhimei taught you, and then quickly escape! It's not just your wallet that hurts your body.
