He spent six years deciphering more than 120 manuscripts of the Jinnong Codex in order to "enjoy the pleasure of resonating with the ancients"

"I began to study Jinnong in 2015, and have collected and interpreted more than 120 jinnong codex poems, in fact, I know that such an interpretation is more like an ascetic road", recently, Zhejiang calligrapher Zhang Linzhong told reporters in an interview with Purple Cow News, he spent 6 years to create a 200,000-word monograph "The Circle of Friends of winter heart", this work is mainly to study the Jinnong codex and create jinnong theme essays, the work is a total of three volumes, from the perspective of literati, society, family, emotions and other perspectives, Zhang Linzhong said that as far as he knows, no one in China has systematically interpreted Jinnong's codex, "I think, this is the responsibility of a responsible calligrapher", and the reporter also learned that this monograph is currently planning to be published.

Zhang Linzhong

He is "both literate and ink", loves calligraphy, and also loves writing

Zhang Linzhong, an electric power person, a writer, a calligrapher, he has advocated the artistic concept of "both literature and ink cultivation" in his long-term artistic practice, and his works have won awards in the whole army, the province, the national system and the national system more than 40 times, and his works have been widely collected by all walks of life.

Zhang Linzhong launched the essay collection "Lin Jia Tang" in 2019, which is a collection of local essays, and Zhang Linzhong revolves around the hometown of Lin Jia Tang where he lives. Linjiatang is a small village of less than 30 households located in Sanmen, a coastal area of Zhejiang, Zhang Linzhong left his hometown at the age of 16 to study and join the army, a full 30 years, there are happy and sad childhood times, there is a lifetime of unforgettable local nostalgia. This book contains 60 essays such as "Fathers and Fellow Villagers", "Grandmother Blocking waist", "180 love letters", "Telephone Wall", "Lin Jiatang" and so on. In this collection of essays, the theme of family affection accounts for the majority. Almost every one of them can feel the author's love for his family and hometown.

What more readers do not know is that this collection of vernacular essays written in his spare time allows us to read that Zhang Linzhong is a person who is close to filial piety, a writer who is true, good, and beautiful in the Tibetan world, who wrote "Telephone Wall" that misses his family after joining the army, and "A Street Called Sanshayang" that he writes about the nostalgia of customs and things.

Zhang Linzhong's calligraphy works

What is even more valuable is that after returning to his hometown of Sanmen from the army, Zhang Linzhong not only wrote many good essays on the theme of life in his spare time, but also as a calligrapher, he has always pursued the artistic concept of "double cultivation of literature and ink". As early as the student era, he was influenced by his teachers and loved to write, but he really embarked on the road of calligraphy, but after he entered his military career, Zhang Linzhong's obsession with calligraphy can be described by his self-written poems: "The cold window is learning books in autumn, and the lone lamp grinds the ink in the middle of the night." When I write about the ecstasy, I don't know if it's a ghost or me. This is also a true portrayal of Zhang Linzhong's process of learning books.

However, Zhang Linzhong has never considered himself a calligrapher, let alone a poet or writer, he just regards himself as a lover. "Wanting to start a family is a lifelong thing, and he is not determined by the number of exhibitions and membership certificates. If someone fools people with these things, it is very ridiculous. For calligraphy, Zhang Linzhong's understanding is that calligraphy, as a representative of Chinese culture, Chinese all genes and symbols are contained in this, and attaching importance to Chinese calligraphy is fundamentally attaching importance to culture.

It took six years to interpret more than 120 poems of the Jinnong Codex

In the thirteen years since he was transferred to the army, Zhang Linzhong has successively published the calligraphy collection "No Collection", "Remember collection", "Zhang Linzhong Calligraphy Works Collection", as well as the poetry collection "Ink Trace" and the anthology "Lin Jiatang".

Zhang Linzhong told reporters that he began to study Jinnong in 2015, the main direction is the Jinnong Codex and the creation of Jinnong theme essays, has collected and interpreted more than 120 Jinnong Codex poetry manuscripts, took six years, 200,000 words of the monograph "Winter Heart's Circle of Friends" has also been assembled into a book, "At present, scholars who study Jinnong are often starting from Jinnong poetry, calligraphy or cross-talk, no scholar is involved in this field, as far as I know, it is also the only monograph in China that systematically studies the Jinnong Codex, and also fills zhejiang, Jiangsu System Research Jinnong Codex Blank". Zhang Linzhong admits that his interpretation is actually more like an ascetic road, "but I think this is exactly the responsibility of a responsible calligrapher."

"Mr. Dongxin's taste, temperament, talent, etc., often make me unconsciously have certain illusions." Zhang Linzhong was deeply touched by the interpretation of the Jinnong Codex, and he found that he was a believer who had inherited the mantle of Mr. Dongxin more than 300 years ago. "Life is short, but it's interesting, especially when you meet someone you think is interesting, and life suddenly becomes incredibly interesting — for me, Kinnon is such a person." For me, writing this book is not about my personal merit, 'just enjoying the pleasure of resonating with the ancients'."

Zhang Linzhong divided "The Circle of Friends of winter hearts" into three volumes, interpreting it from different angles such as literati, society, family, and emotions, and comprehensively showing the life world of Jin Nong, the most influential person at that time. This work has also been supported and recommended by many experts in the industry, Mr. Zhang Jianping, editor-in-chief of Rongbaozhai Publishing House, wrote a preface to this work, saying that through the "Circle of Friends of winter hearts", everyone can see some unknown emotional processes and artistic life behind Jinnong, "In addition to Jinnong's unique personality lacquer books, the most able to show his nature is those codexes, poetry manuscript cursive, although this is the codex interpretation, but Zhang Linzhong did not cut in from the perspective of calligraphy itself, but through these words, dig out jinnong's deep ideological brilliance." And these words are like Jinnong's ancient Dingqi compilations, duan yan lei qin, number of clear offerings, pleasing to the eye." The famous scholar Dr. Yu Zhonghua wrote the title of the book for his inscription, and the famous calligrapher Mr. Yu Mingyi strongly recommended it, which can be said to play a very good role in promoting the study of the "Eight Monsters of Yangzhou", the study of Jinnong and the social and cultural environment of yangzhou during the Kangqian period, which has historical value and will also promote the cultural heritage of Yangzhou as a famous historical and cultural city.
