Beresin's work turns colorful abstract paint smudges into a face.
In almost all of her paintings she herself is the subject. In the midst of absurd faces, showing her less beautiful side, these works are somewhat traditionally not entirely pleasant, and perhaps this is the most interesting quality of her work. She does not represent the ideal image of the artist's romance, but regards herself as a normal person, not because of beauty, but because it is the nature of human existence. The painting hides herself and her immediate family in colorful scenes... Everyday life, shopping, sharing meals and playing games together. However, these images are full of more melancholy notions of the absurd, the grotesque, and the lonely. The contradiction between humor and horror exposes people to impending aging. Eva Beresin's art offers solace and hope for a world that seems to be deteriorating and without respite.
