After reading the first book, what impressed me the most was not how beautiful Mu Wanqing was, but the degree of obsession of Duan Yu in learning the "I Ching", in the words of Chen Kaige's movie "Farewell to the Overlord": No crazy devil can not live.
Because I have read the most books related to the I Ching in the past year, I pay special attention to mentioning the I Ching everywhere after reading Duan Yu's appearance. I excerpted a few excerpts from the place where I wrote the notes on the I Ching to see how Duan Yu studied the I Ching:
1. Those who know are not as good as those who are good, and those who are good are not as good as those who are happy. Duan Yu has been so obsessed with the things he likes since he was a child that his parents call him "idiot". Whether he was seven years old and looked at a "eighteen bachelors" camellia from morning to night, learning to play chess, or later studying the I Ching, he was very obsessed.
For example, he said that when eating a dish, he also thinks about whether the direction of chopsticks sticking out is "dayou" or "tongren". These two gua are opposites from the perspective of the gua elephant, that is to say, from the front side, it is the fire of the sky, and the person on the other side looks at the same person as the fire of the sky, just as you and the person on the other side read the same newspaper, one is looking at the other upside down.
2. When Duan Yu was practicing the "Ling Bo Micro Step" in the cave, he saw that the footprints drawn on the scroll were marked with the words "Female Sister" and "No Delusion", which was the direction of the sixty-four gua in the I Ching.
Because Duan Yu was studying the I Ching wholeheartedly, he was invigorated when he saw these names, like meeting an old friend. He was originally a nerd, he did not like martial arts since he was a child, and he did not expect that he could understand the "Ling Bo MicroStep" and realize the endless fun of martial arts.
3. In the Infinite Mountain, when Duan Yuguang sat down on the gravel, although he was stabbed slightly painfully, he still thought of the "I Ching" for the first time, and thought of the Jiusi Yao of The Gang Gua: "The buttocks have no skin, and their deeds are secondary; the sheep repents, and he does not believe it."
Duan Yu also explained this sentence. His ass was worn out of skin, it was difficult to walk, he was difficult to walk without pants; holding the sheep would not regret it, he thought of Mu Wanqing's words to lead the sheep, the sheep was himself; Mu Wanqing always said that men love to deceive people, it is exactly what they believe.
When he was too tired to fall asleep, he thought about the I Ching a few more words.
4. In Dali, when Duan Yu said that Yue Laosan was not worthy to be his master, he deliberately quoted two sentences from the I Ching to embarrass him. One sentence is "Wind and thunder, benefit." A gentleman who sees good will move, and if he has done so, he will change", and another sentence is "The people say that there is no boundary between the upper and the lower." From top to bottom, its path is great." Both are from the 42nd gua of the I Ching, Yi Gua.
Also in Dali, when Cui Baiquan said that when he went to nanyang to kill the Lü family, he talked about a conversation between a man and a woman, one of which was "Niangzi, from Guimei to Wu Wang, should not be arranged like this." He immediately understood that these were the two gua of "sister-in-law" and "innocence" in the "I Ching", even if it was difficult to understand the "big brother from the northeast corner, and then turn sister", he also knew that the other party was saying "greater than" and "ji", which was the footwork of "Ling Bo microstep".
5, was drugged by Duan Yanqing, and Mu Wanqing shared in the stone house, Duan Yu was confused and still somewhat rational, shouted to Mu Wanqing: "Wan sister, I am your brother, you are my sister, you know? Do you understand the I Ching?"
So he started from the basic Tai Chi of the I Ching, Tai Chi gives birth to two instruments, two instruments give birth to four elephants, and four elephants give birth to Gossip. Then she taught Mu Wanqing the bagua song recipe, and then taught the meaning of gossip, such as Qian as the father, Kun as the mother, Zhen as the eldest son, Xun as the eldest daughter...
With so much to list, what I want to make clear is:
Duan Yu's obsession with the I Ching is worth learning;
After learning it, it is used everywhere;
After learning, you can get through it all.
In fact, learning any kind of knowledge, three days of fishing and two days of drying nets is impossible to learn well, only by integrating it into life and reaching the level of obsession, it is possible to learn well, just like Duan Yu also thought of the 64 gua direction of the "I Ching" when eating.
The same goes for doing other things. When Bill Gates dropped out of school and started a business in his garage, he did it with the strength of not being crazy and not living.
I'm not talking about how tough Bill Gates's entrepreneurial environment is, but about how much he loves one thing, to the point where he eats, sleeps, works 24 hours a day in the garage, sleeps when he's tired, eats when he's hungry, and spends the rest of his time at work.
And what you learn to apply, should not be a scene sentence, learn to use, use do not understand and then learn, knowledge is used. Of course, applying what you have learned is only one aspect, and it is a good way to test the familiarity of mastering knowledge and to consolidate the knowledge learned through application.
However, most of us have a lot of time to study, almost all day long in the case study, not much use in life, if you have time to see all kinds of Q&A websites, you will see many very basic questions, even primary school students can answer.
If the person who initiates the question is willing to think about it, or when encountering problems in life, think more about what the book says, use it to solve the problem, do not need to ask questions on the Internet, and even "what to do if you are hungry?" Such a problem.
Finally, let's talk about why after learning a good knowledge, you can get through it. After Duan Yu studied the I Ching, even if the words spoken by others did not meet the intentions, some looked like gibberish, such as "from the turtle sister to the martial king", he could accurately deduce the meaning expressed by the other party.
Although the other party is talking about the "I Ching" that he is familiar with, it can illustrate a problem, that is, when you are proficient in a book, you unconsciously use it to apply it to the things you encounter, you will see more deeply than others, and over time you will find that most of the truths are the same.
Think a little further afield. If you are studying the I Ching, spend a lot of time studying it carefully and learning it more deeply than the average person. At this point you use it as the trunk, and other similar knowledge and books as branches and leaves, so that you have your own tree of knowledge.
With this tree of knowledge, you have a more complete learning system, when to learn what, where you need to spend more time and work harder, you will know clearly. Even if you don't want to study the I Ching but something else, it's the same thing: identify the trunk, branches, and leaves so that the tree grows healthily.
