Feng Haonan's ancestral home is in Chongqing, a jiangcheng on the banks of the Jialing River, and he was born in Lanzhou, a golden city on the banks of the Yellow River. Feng Haonan recalled: "My grandfather came to the Great Northwest in 1951 in response to the call of the state, his young father came to Lanzhou in 1955, and his mother was Hebei Zhiqing. I was born in Lanzhou, grew up in Lanzhou, and am an authentic Lanzhou native. My love of calligraphy stemmed from family influences, my grandfather taught my father to write well, and in those days, if you could write a good stroke, it meant that there would be more opportunities. My father used his spare time to practice writing, studied diligently, and helped him a lot with a good stroke. My father was my initiation teacher and taught me to write well. I remember that at that time, he often bought handwriting, studied it himself, and then taught me to write. I still keep the first copy of the poster he bought. Today, it seems that the schematic diagram of the pen he drew for me at that time fully meets the standards of calligraphy teaching. ”

Feng Haonan's learning experience is very rich, in today's words, he is a scholar, but he did not engage in his major in the end, but embarked on the road of calligraphy education. Feng Haonan said: "Because my parents are engaged in the cause of traditional Chinese medicine in the motherland, they want me to study Western medicine, after graduating from high school, I was admitted to Xi'an Medical University, and after graduation, I studied business and economics abroad." I like traditional Chinese culture from the bone, and calligraphy is my lifelong hobby. My teacher, Mr. Lin Tao, the former chairman of the Provincial Book Association, encouraged me to try to do calligraphy education, I remember that Mr. Lin Tao was an adjunct professor at Northwest University for Nationalities, and I did some teaching auxiliary work as Mr. Lin's assistant teacher, obeyed the teacher's orders, and obeyed my heart, and finally I embarked on the road of calligraphy education, and Mr. Lin Tao was the leader of my calligraphy education cause. In 2009, he founded Lanzhou Jiahe Art Museum, and it has been 13 years this year. ”

Feng Haonan's calligraphy is mainly based on seals, Lishu is the main text of the Han Dynasty, lishu is simple and strong coupled with the historical origins of the Han Dynasty, so that he is very fond of lishu. He told reporters: "The inspiration of calligraphy has gained a lot, first of all, I have not experienced a period of rebellion. My father once told me that you who learned calligraphy made us feel that you had not experienced the rebellious period of youth. Secondly, when I encounter things that I can't let go, I will use writing to soothe my mood and use culture to nourish my soul. I think that whether it is posting or creating, it is necessary to communicate spiritually with the predecessors and ancients, which is a process of learning and communicating, and it is also a process of inspiring yourself. The environment may be quiet when creating, but the heart is magnificent, magnificent, and sometimes like a breeze. I have a sense of awe for traditional culture because it has helped me overcome many problems, the problems of study and life when I was a student, and the problems of life and work that I encounter today. ”

Feng Haonan has a deep-rooted love for calligraphy, during the study period, whether it is studying medicine or business, his connection with calligraphy has never stopped, and even become the main theme of his amateur life, and calligraphy has also allowed him to contact more friends at home and abroad, and his life experience has made him more respectful of Traditional Chinese Culture. "During the study abroad period, foreign teachers liked to understand Chinese culture, but at that time, many Chinese students were affected by popular ideas, and they did not know much about traditional Chinese culture, so they could not meet the teachers' desire for knowledge. Foreign teachers knew that I could do calligraphy, so they found me and told me about their confusion, and were willing to communicate with me more, through me to understand the mysterious Oriental and brilliant Chinese culture in their hearts. Once, I went to a foreign restaurant to dine, because of my polite and comfortable communication with the boss, he suddenly asked me if I was Japanese or Korean, and I told him that I was Chinese. I was puzzled and confused by this, why didn't he first ask me if I was Chinese? From a teaching point of view, although the school has set up relevant courses, I feel that the teaching content of traditional culture is lacking, and if it is not a major in the university, it will not learn too much relevant knowledge. Feng Haonan said. Recognizing the lack of traditional Chinese culture in contemporary education, he also resolutely embarked on the road of disseminating traditional culture.

Feng Haonan believes that there is a huge feature of traditional Chinese culture, that is, she is very inclusive, she can be broken, but it will not be disintegrated, and after breaking, it will be inclusive of foreign excellent culture and show vitality. Chinese characters are an important carrier of traditional Chinese culture, through the teaching of calligraphy, starting from the most basic strokes and characters, first let the children understand the past and present lives of our current characters, establish feelings with words, and be able to communicate with words with their hearts in writing. When they read some ancient cultural works, their understanding will be deeper. Feng Haonan said: "Our writing is different from foreign countries, our writing has a soul, the meaning of the text is particularly strong, so we must stimulate students' love for words, to establish feelings through writing and writing, so that our reading level will also improve." The amount of reading by today's students is actually very large, but the harvest after reading is not satisfactory, I think it is that our emotional establishment with words has not reached a certain level. Therefore, I think it is a pity that there is a lack of traditional culture education, especially for the study of traditional calligraphy. He often told students: "Our nation is Han, our writing is Chinese characters, foreign friends when talking about China, often call Chinese culture with Qin and Han Culture, Han and Tang Culture, these will have a 'Han' character, and Lishu is the closest to today's writing, and the history of the book, so the study of Lishu is more meaningful to me." Why do students like to come to me to learn, because I learn not only the techniques of calligraphy here, but also a lot of related knowledge, such as the evolution of characters and traditional Chinese festivals. During the festival, I would like to discuss with my classmates the difference between the festival and the holiday, what is the significance of the festival? What is its history? Therefore, whenever there is a traditional festival, I will share with the students the origin of the festival, historical inheritance, festival customs and other contents, and advocate that everyone celebrate the traditional Chinese festival and the cultural Chinese festival. ”

Talking about Feng Haonan's road to calligraphy education, he told reporters: "I just hope to do a good job in basic education in calligraphy. I have always told my students that I cannot be your most important teacher or the ultimate teacher, because every student is a 'material' that can be made in my eyes, and my task is not to directly carve, but to scrape the burrs on their bodies, and the sample will come out, and when these students meet a better teacher, people will be able to start carving. Now we must do a good job in the education of calligraphy for young people, and to do a good job, we also need to go out to broaden our horizons, increase our insights, and communicate extensively. For example, since 2016, I have organized students to go abroad, or to carry out cultural exchanges in other provinces in China, so that children can obtain more knowledge about calligraphy from some local cultural landscapes, communicate with local calligraphers and students who learn calligraphy, promote each other and stimulate interest in learning, such a communication method is very acceptable to students and parents, and they also like it, and feel that their children have gained a lot. Through the activities, students are encouraged to be able to experience the beauty of Chinese culture from the heart, and when he has such a wonderful feeling, he can take the initiative to understand and learn more. When you have a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese culture, you can help children build cultural self-confidence. Therefore, children should learn calligraphy more three-dimensionally, rather than existing in separate words. Words carry culture, writing must have a certain connotation, which is what I have always upheld in calligraphy education, but I strive to use calligraphy teaching to pass on the culture. ”

Not only engaged in calligraphy education, Feng Haonan also inherits traditional culture through social activities. He told reporters: "I am a member of the Jiusan Society, and at the same time I am the head of the grass-roots branch. Each of our members needs to actively participate in social service, and our branch takes the exchange of traditional calligraphy and painting as the entry point for us to enter the community, and also establishes the social service brand as a 'traditional calligraphy and painting public welfare lecture hall'. In addition to carrying out public welfare lectures in the community, we also organize some community activities with the Qilihe District Cultural Center and other departments and institutions, hoping to stimulate the interest of community residents in traditional culture through such activities. ”
