Everyone is a piece of history, please tell us your story
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
As the witnesses, witnesses, and promoters of economic and social development during the period of New China's construction and reform, the vast number of retired cadres have a history and many stories in each person. In order to learn and carry forward the noble spirit of the majority of retired cadres who stick to their original aspirations, devote themselves to the party's political nature, struggle for the benefit of the country, dare to dedicate and serve the people, guide more veteran comrades to continue the red blood, and cultivate patriotic feelings for the party, the Bureau of Veteran Cadres of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee decided to carry out an interview activity of "Paying Tribute to Shaohua and the Oral History of the Builders of the Republic".
The activities focus on the witnesses, promoters and typical figures of major historical events in the economic and social development of our province in various historical periods of New China. As reported by "The Home of Old Cadres", long before Xiaogang Village in Anhui Province, the story of Zhou Zhenxing, the former secretary of the Heze Prefectural Party Committee, who took the lead in piloting the implementation of the household contract system in Heze area:
At that time, although "going it alone" was the general trend, no one dared to try rashly. So after the Spring Festival in 1979, Zhou Zhenxing convened a meeting of three-level cadres, at which he spoke for nearly eight hours. He said: "Comrades of the county party committee secretary here, you write down my following words, if the superiors say that we did something wrong, find out, and I Zhou Zhenxing will be responsible, you are all forced!" As long as I am asked to be the secretary of this prefectural party committee, I have to feed the people, otherwise, this prefectural party secretary would rather not do it! This speech greatly encouraged the vast number of cadres. (Excerpt, see "Home of Old Cadres" Issue 8, 2018)
Another example is the story of the dam told to us by Fu Guangyong, a retired cadre from Linqu, Shandong Province, who served as the fourth commander-in-chief of the Lishuiya Dam Reservoir Project Headquarters and led the people in the old revolutionary base area to overcome the floods:
During the construction process, the commune party committee attached great importance to construction safety, and the project lasted 6 years, and only one comrade died saving others. Song Guangqi, who was only 21 years old at the time, faced the falling boulder and pushed away the workers around him, and the workers were rescued, but Song Guangqi's life was forever fixed at the age of 21. After Song Guangqi sacrificed, the headquarters offered to compensate him, but his father said: "The repair of the Shuiya Reservoir is our own business in Jiushan, and Guangqi is sacrificed for the business of our family." Then he sent his other son, Song Guanglong, to the construction site, and worked for more than four years until the reservoir was built. (Excerpt, see "Home of Old Cadres" Issue 7, 2023)
