As of Friday, February 11, Chinese viewers had spent 2.05 billion hours watching the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics on TV. That's 15 percent higher than the combined viewership of the two Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and 2014 in Sochi.

In recognition of the achievements of CCTV and the long-term partnership between CCTV and the IOC, President Bach also presented Director Shen Haixiong with the IOC President's Award, a trophy created by Alexander Krivoshev and also known as "Endless Entry", symbolizing the road to victory for gold medal athletes.

Recently, the IOC and the General Station extended the copyright cooperation agreement for the new Olympic Games until 2032. As early as the 1980s, through an agreement with the Asian Broadcasting Federation, the former CCTV obtained the right to broadcast the Olympic Games, and in 2008, it first purchased the olympic broadcast rights directly from the International Olympic Committee.

In October last year, CCTV also launched the CCTV Olympic Channel, the world's first 4K ultra-high-definition, 24-hour professional sports channel, where Chinese Olympic fans can enjoy their favorite sports, athletes and Olympic stories 24 hours a day, all year round. The launch of the channel further promoted the Olympic movement and the promotion of the Olympic spirit in China.
