After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, he was hired by Zhu Kezhen to serve as a professor at Zhejiang University and went to Jiangxi and Guangxi to give lectures. In the summer of 1939, he set up the "Fusheng Academy" in Sichuan, where he served as the dean and lecturer. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he returned to Hangzhou.
