The Chinese space station, the "nine chapters" quantum computing prototype, the manned submersible, the high-speed maglev train... These landmark scientific and technological achievements can be seen at the national "13th Five-Year Plan" scientific and technological innovation achievement exhibition.

The achievement exhibition, held at the Beijing Exhibition Center from October 21 to 27, with the theme of "Innovation-driven Development Towards a Scientific and Technological Powerhouse", focused on the major scientific and technological achievements made by China during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period and the latest progress in scientific and technological development and reform. The total exhibition area is 21834 square meters, with a total of 1740 exhibition items, 1347 physical objects, 277 models, 933 exhibition boards, and 383 videos.

At the Achievement Exhibition, you can contact the high-tech big country heavy weapons-

In the outdoor exhibition area, the high-speed maglev train with a speed of 600 kilometers per hour attracts visitors to queue up to enter the interior of the locomotive. This is the result of China's scientific research team after more than 20 years of industry-university-research collaborative research, and the relevant engineering and equipment complete sets of technologies have independent intellectual property rights.

In the indoor exhibition area, the display of models of the Chinese space station and spacesuits is reminiscent of the "business trip" trio that is in space. In 1992, China formulated the "three-step" development strategy for manned spaceflight projects, and the construction of the space station is an important goal of the development strategy. Now, this goal has finally been achieved, and we have our own "space resident population".

At the Achievement Exhibition, you can experience the grounded Huimin Technology——

The situation of dependence on imports of high-end medical equipment in China is being broken. In the achievement exhibition, the integrated whole-body positron emission/magnetic resonance imaging equipment was displayed, which is the project result of the "13th Five-Year Plan" digital diagnosis and treatment equipment research and development key special project, filling the gap in the cutting-edge field of high-end medical equipment in China.

The achievement exhibition also showcased the rice breeding accelerator of the unmanned plant factory developed by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and under the colored LED light, rice seedlings of different heights thrived. Through the accurate matching of light, nutrition, temperature, etc., the rice growth cycle was shortened from 120 days to 60 days.

At the Achievement Exhibition, you can see the exciting contrast between the past and the present——

On the display boards or screens of each exhibition area, many amazing improvements are reflected in numbers and charts.

China's investment in scientific and technological innovation has continued to grow rapidly, and the scale advantage is remarkable. The intensity of China's R&D investment, that is, the ratio of R&D expenditure to GDP, increased from 2.06% in 2015 to 2.40% in 2020.

China's knowledge creation ability has been significantly enhanced, and it has moved from a country with a large population to a country with scientific and technological human resources. The number of R&D personnel per 10,000 employed persons increased from 49.3 person-years in 2015 to 67.8 person-years in 2020. The number of invention patents per 10,000 population increased from 6.3 in 2015 to 15.8 in 2020. (Economic Daily reporter She Huimin)
