Recently, according to data from statistical agencies, the Tesla Model 3 was the second best-selling electric vehicle (EV) in Thailand last year, with 222 sales.

According to the data compiled by EV Plaza, the top five electric vehicles sold are:
MG ZS EV - 1,066 units
Tesla Model 3 – 222 units
Porsche Taycan – 194 vehicles
FOMM No. 1 - 109 units
Mini Cooper SE - 83 辆
Although the sales data is somewhat small, the main reason is related to the size of the electric vehicle market in Thailand itself, and Tesla has not yet officially entered Thailand as a pure import vehicle, which means that Thai car owners must buy vehicles abroad and import them into Thailand, which also means that the Tesla Model 3 standard version with import taxes may be sold higher in Thailand than the Tesla Model Y Performance with FSD in North America.
In 2020, only 1,056 electric vehicles were sold across Thailand, and if on the positive side, the Thai electric vehicle market has grown by 364% in 2021, with 3,994 units sold, but electric vehicles still account for only 0.5% of total car sales in Thailand, in fact, one of the main reasons for the slow development of the Thai car market is the country's extremely high import tax (the Thai government imposes a 200% import tax on vehicles) to protect Thai manufacturers, of course, it is also related to Thailand's own industrial strength.
