preface
Recently, the disappearance of Chinese actor Wang Xing on the Thai-Myanmar border has attracted a lot of attention, according to the latest CCTV news, a preliminary investigation confirmed that Wang Xing is a victim of human trafficking.
Wang Xing's case is not unique, he is just the tip of the curtain on human trafficking in Thailand.
In August 2023, the Thai police announced: About 70,000 Chinese are trafficked from Thailand to Myanmar every year, an average of nearly 200 people per day, and "All or Nothing" has become a reality!
Why is human trafficking so unscrupulous and repeatedly prohibited? What's the secret behind this?

They were abducted, and their fate was "lost" on the Thai-Myanmar border
After the Wang Xing incident attracted attention, more and more similar tragedies surfaced, and the experience of post-00s model Yang Zeqi is heartbreaking.
On December 20, Yang Zeqi went to Thailand to film, and after sending a distress message to a friend the next day, he lost contact on the Thai-Myanmar border, and on the 29th, when he made a video call with his mother, the obvious scar at the corner of his eye stung the hearts of his family, and then lost contact again.
Yang Zeqi's father was so anxious that he urgently landed in Thailand to look for him, and his mother "cried until her eyesight declined and her spirit collapsed."
Mr. Xu, a citizen of Nanjing, said in an interview that he saw someone recruiting actors in a part-time group with a monthly salary of tens of thousands, and he was very moved to follow, but he was taken to the Northern Myanmar Electric Fraud Park, and later contacted his family and paid a ransom of 620,000 yuan before being sent out of the Electric Fraud Park by an intermediary.
There is also a 16-year-old boy who was deceived by game netizens to northern Myanmar, his father searched for many days but had no news, so he tearfully recorded a video, asking the park not to hurt his son, Heng Jiawen, a young man from Binzhou, Shaanxi, reported a tour group to travel to Thailand, and later left the group on his own during the tour, and lost contact with his family since then.
These are just the tip of the iceberg, and many more ordinary families are caught in the same nightmare, either with dreams or simply wanting to see the outside world, but they do not expect to step into the abyss of human trafficking.
The Thai-Myanmar border seems to be prosperous, but it is secretly dangerous, and their fate has been ruthlessly rewritten, and behind the loss of contact is the endless pain and suffering of relatives, so why is the human crime so unscrupulous?
The cunning "hunting" methods of human traffickers
Traffickers are clever enough to use social media platforms and recruitment websites to post fake high-paying jobs under the guise of "overseas workers" and "cross-border cooperation" to attract young people who are eager to get ahead and change their lives.
Some fraud gangs will even disguise themselves as legitimate travel agencies and launch "special tours" with attractive prices, claiming to be able to take you on a tour of Southeast Asia and enjoy exotic customs, but in fact, they will trick people into Thailand and sell them.
In addition to online traps, acquaintance relationships are also the focus of their exploitation, and they use bribery, coercion and inducement to attract some people to respond internally, so that victims fall into the trap without defense.
Just as some victims have been introduced by friends or recommended by acquaintances to embark on this road of no return, full of hope that it is a reliable opportunity, but the acquaintance has become an accomplice to the devil, once the victim is hooked, the traffickers will quickly take control measures.
They will detain important documents such as passports and ID cards under the pretext of going through formalities and keeping property, so that the victims will lose the ability to move freely in an instant, and they can only be at the mercy of others.
If someone tries to resist, they are greeted with fists and kicks, sticks, and even death threats, and in a foreign land, the victim who does not understand the language and the place of life is often left to give in and fall into endless fear and despair.
In recent years, the living standards of the Chinese people are getting better and better, and many people want to go out to see and have a "walk-and-go trip", Southeast Asian countries are a very good choice, which is relatively close to us and has tropical scenery, and has become a popular destination for Chinese travel.
In 2022, the number of tourists from our country to Thailand was 286,500, in 2023, more than 2.7 million, and in 24, more than 6.7 million Chinese traveled to Thailand.
While China is safe, Southeast Asia is dangerous, and traffickers are keen to see this as an opportunity, so they lock their evil eyes on the Chinese.
The dark abyss of Myawaddy
Myawaddy, located in eastern Myanmar and just across a river from Thailand, has become a hub for human trafficking, making it a hotbed of crime.
The Moai River, about 300 meters wide at its widest point and only 10 meters at its narrowest point, makes smuggling a breeze when people don't even need a boat to cross the river during the rainy season, making the town of Mae Sot in Thailand a springboard into Myawaddy.
The complex political environment in Myanmar is further aggravated by political instability, local warlords, and a number of local armed forces competing with each other in Myawaddy Township, such as the Karen National Army, the Karen National Union and its subordinate forces.
Ongoing clashes between these armed forces and government forces have led to a slight laxity in the Myanmar government's jurisdiction over Myawaddy and the inability to effectively curb crimes there.
The prevalence of gambling has also provided cover for human trafficking, with more than 40 wire fraud parks along the Burmese side of the Moai River, and more than 300,000 people are said to be engaged in wire fraud.
The abundance of casinos, hotels, and entertainment venues attracts people from all over the world who dream of making a fortune, but who do not know that they have stepped into a land of no return, where the abducted people are like lambs to the slaughter, trapped in this place of lawlessness, and suffering inhuman torture.
The dark abyss of Myawaddy, which has devoured the lives and dignity of countless people, is backed by a web of political, economic, and geographical factors, making it difficult to rescue victims and fight crime.
So, can we eradicate the Myawaddy campus?
According to relevant reports, judging from the current situation, it will take time to eradicate it, after all, it is on the Thai-Burmese border, and our influence there is relatively weak, so we can only wait for their consent to carry out joint operations.
The armed forces in Myawaddy are not vegetarians, and there have been media reports that local forces have blown up a police station, killing and wounding people, but in the end the Myanmar government has no choice but to suffer a dumb loss.
Human trafficking is really a cancer of human society, bringing catastrophe to countless families, shattering the originally beautiful life, and behind every abducted life is the endless tears and desperate cries of relatives.
epilogue
Darkness seems to have been looming over the Thai-Myanmar border for too long, but we must not allow it to continue to spread, and we look forward to the day when the Thai-Myanmar border will no longer be a nightmare for human trafficking.
This is not only a consolation for the victims, but also a defense of human civilization and dignity.
