Jiwei Network news, on February 10, according to the "Electronic Times" reported that industry insiders revealed that Jiaoxia has informed its customers that its 3D NAND flash shipments will be in short supply from April and has stopped quoting in the spot market.

Earlier, Western Digital issued a statement saying that production operations at its joint venture plants with Kaoya in Yokohama and Kitakami, Japan, were affected due to contamination of certain materials used in the production process, or resulted in a reduction in the available inventory of at least 6.5 EB of flash memory. Armor has yet to make a statement about the impact of the incident.

Market watchers expect this could affect as many as 16 EB of TOTAL NAND flash shipments, or about 10 percent of the total NAND flash consumed in a quarter.

A new report from market research agency TrendForce points out that the production shortage of Armored Man may lead to a 5-10% increase in NAND flash contract prices in the second quarter of 2022. (Proofreading/Aaron)
