While major game developer publishers such as Ubisoft and Square Enix are determined to continue their quest to implement NFTs in their games, some other publishers, such as EA, have chosen to distance themselves from NFTs for the time being or simply refuse, given the opposition from players and many in the industry.
Recently, the popular independent game mall itch.io also stood up to express their position on NFTs. In a statement issued by the itch.io officials on Twitter, they directly referred to the NFT as a "hoax", very strongly expressing their views on the NFT.

itch.io is a digital store focused on indie game content, somewhat similar to platforms such as Steam and Epic, where developers can upload their own games for sale, and players can find their favorite indie games here.
But unlike these stores, in the itch.io, a new attempt was made to price and pay for the game: the pricing set by the developer for the game was only a lower limit, and if the player liked the work very much, he could pay any price above the pricing, and the nature of the excess part was somewhat similar to today's "tip". The developer can also decide the share with the platform, the platform default share ratio is 10%, but the developer can increase or decrease this value, or even completely without sharing with the platform. This is all because of the philosophy of the site's founder, Leaf Corcoran: to focus on the game itself.
NFTs are clearly contrary to the site's philosophy, so it's not surprising that itch.io have expressed a harsh objection to NFTs.
