The International Finance Centre is located at 1 View Street and 8 Financial Street, Central, Hong Kong Island, facing Victoria Harbour. Its total floor area is 436,000 square meters. It is now home to Henderson Land And The Headquarters of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
At that time, it was the second tallest building in Hong Kong and the tallest building on Hong Kong Island, and when the second phase was completed in 2003, it became the fifth tallest building in the world, the second tallest building in Greater China and the tallest building in Hong Kong (now the 35th tallest skyscraper in the world), and later the 484-meter-high International Commerce Centre in West Kowloon, Hong Kong, was completed in 2011, replacing its position as the tallest building in Hong Kong with a difference of 72 meters.
