An Apple Store in Scotland was evacuated due to a "smoking battery"

Apple Braehead in Scotland and the surrounding shopping centre area were evacuated as firefighters rushed to the scene to deal with a "smoking battery" incident. The Apple Store is located at Brehed Mall in Glasgow, where on February 8, 2022 at 4:22 p.m. local time, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called to the scene by smoke sirens.

According to the Glasgow Times, the local fire department sent four fire trucks as a standard response to a possible fire in a large shopping mall, but eventually the problem was quickly brought under control.

The siren was reportedly triggered by a smoking battery, and the fire department said that personnel sent at the scene used a sand bucket to extinguish the device that caught the fire, but did not disclose which device the battery came from and how the fire occurred.
