Passenger Cars: January Preliminary Value of Wholesale Sales of Narrow Passenger Vehicles 2.072 Million Units Up 2% y/y

According to the data released by the "Passenger Association" WeChat signal on the afternoon of the 10th, the wholesale data of manufacturers in the narrow sense of passenger cars in January has not yet been locked, and the preliminary statistics are 2.072 million units, an increase of 2% compared with the same period last year and a decrease of 12% compared with December.

Weekly retail data showed that the overall narrow passenger car market retail sales in the first week of January reached an average of 58,000 units per day, up 6% year-on-year and 27% higher than the first week of December 2021.

The overall narrow passenger car market retail sales in the second week of January reached an average of 63,000 units per day, down 2% year-on-year and up 3% from the second week of December 2021.

The overall narrow passenger car market retail sales in the third week of January reached an average of 86,000 units per day, up 28% year-on-year and up 13% from the third week of December 2021.

The overall narrow passenger car market retail sales in the fourth week of January reached an average of 66,000 units per day, down 32% year-on-year, and the market performed abnormally due to the Spring Festival, down 29% from the fourth week of December 2021.

The Association pointed out that the overall retail sales data of the whole month of January in the narrow sense of passenger cars has not been locked, and the current data is 2.090 million units in the whole month, down 4% year-on-year and 1% month-on-month.

Weekly wholesale data shows that in the first week of January, the average daily wholesale of narrow passenger cars was 52,000 units, down 4% year-on-year. This week is down 2% relative to the first week of December 2021.

In the second week of January, the average daily wholesale of narrow passenger cars was 57,000 units, unchanged year-on-year. This week was down 16% relative to the second week of December 2021.

In the third week of January, the total number of narrow passenger cars was wholesaled at an average of 75,000 units per day, up 22% year-on-year. This week was down 6% relative to the third week of December 2021.

In the fourth week of January, the total number of narrow passenger cars was 84,000 units per day, down 5% year-on-year. This week is down 21% relative to the fourth week of December 2021.

According to the Association, the current manufacturers' narrow passenger car wholesale data in January has not yet been locked, and the preliminary statistics are 2.072 million units, an increase of 2% compared with the same period last year and a decrease of 12% from December. Before the Spring Festival in 2022, the trend of car companies is relatively good, and it entered the pre-holiday peak period earlier than last year.
