On February 9, according to evertiq, SEMI reported that global silicon wafer area shipments in 2021 increased by 14% year-on-year, while wafer revenue increased by 13% to more than $12 billion, a record high.

Silicon wafer shipments total 14,165 MSI (million square inches), compared to 12,407 MSI in 2020 to meet the growing broad demand for semiconductor equipment and a variety of applications. Demand for 300mm, 200mm and 150mm wafer sizes is strong. Overall, wafer revenue reached $12.617 billion, surpassing the record of $12.129 billion set in 2007.
