The relevant person in charge of the International Olympic Committee: Beijing has largely proposed a future model

Today (February 9), the main media center of the Beijing Winter Olympics held the fifth regular press conference of the competition. The relevant responsible persons of the International Olympic Committee and the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee answered questions from Chinese and foreign journalists around "sustainable development".

Zhai Zhuang, a reporter from the main station: "Sustainable development" is the theme of today's regular press conference. Mary Sarois, Director of Brand and Sustainability at the International Olympic Committee, mentioned that she had come to China in 2008, and after 14 years, when she came to China again, she saw that the venues of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games were reused, and the concept and practice of sustainable development such as clean energy, green transportation, etc., were well reflected through the Winter Olympics.

Mary Sarois, Director of Brand and Sustainability at the IOC: "From 2008 to 2022, Beijing has largely proposed a future model, and I firmly believe that what we are seeing here is a fantastic model. The repurposing of venues is not only for the purpose of hosting sporting events, but also for entertainment, cultural events, training grounds, and also for the public, because these venues are flexible, multi-purpose, and I believe these venues will have the longest possible service life, so it's a great model. ”

Li Sen, director of the Overall Planning Department of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, said that the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics will always adhere to the concept of green, low-carbon and sustainable development. Taking the National Speed Skating Hall as an example, the ice-making method adopts the world's most advanced and environmentally friendly carbon dioxide transcritical direct cold ice-making technology, which not only makes the carbon emissions in the ice-making process close to zero, but also recovers and reuses the high-quality waste heat generated in the process. At the same time, uniform ice temperature also helps athletes to create good results.

Li Sen, director of the Overall Planning Department of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, said: "Our carbon dioxide ice making technology will not cause greenhouse gas effects or damage to the ozone layer. Our carbon dioxide ice making technology can recover heat energy very well, and the energy savings in operation are basically about 20%. ”
