Zhangshu Guozishan Warring States Tomb was selected as a candidate project for the preliminary evaluation of the top ten new archaeological discoveries in China in 2021

On February 8, the preliminary evaluation of the 2021 National Top Ten Archaeological New Discoveries Selection was launched. After review by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, among more than 1,700 archaeological excavation projects, 32 were finally determined to be eligible for election. The City's Zhangshu Guozishan Warring States Tomb is among them.

The top ten new archaeological discoveries in the country are the selection activities held every year organized by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage. From January to April of each year, the major archaeological discoveries of the previous year are selected nationwide, and the selection items must comply with the approval procedures of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage to ensure the quality of the excavations, and the excavation content has historical, artistic and scientific value and provide new content information and new understanding for the Chinese archaeological department.

After four years of archaeological excavations, the Guozishan Warring States Tomb is the largest archaeological discovery in Jiangxi region of the Eastern Zhou Period tomb, its discovery is a new breakthrough in the archaeology of Yue guo and Yue culture, which is of extremely important academic value for the study of the relationship between Wu Yue and Chu in the Eastern Zhou Period of the Jiangxi region as the "Wu head and Chu Tail", the evolution of the political pattern and the process of "chinese civilization pluralism and integration", and also provides key information for the construction and improvement of the genealogy of the archaeological cultural sequence of the "Two Weeks" period in Jiangxi.

Next, 91 archaeological excavation qualification units and 136 directors of the 7th Chinese Archaeological Society will vote and recommend 20 items to enter the final evaluation. Finally, 10 new archaeological discoveries were selected by the comprehensive evaluation of the jury.
