It is understood that Valeo's second factory is mainly responsible for the intelligent transformation project of Highland electric vehicle headlight production line, with an estimated total investment of 200 million yuan. The construction includes the purchase of new injection molding machines, painting lines, manipulators and other production equipment. After the completion of the renovation, it is expected to produce 500,000 sets of headlamps per year.

Rooted in the Economic Development Zone for 27 years, Valeo has expanded and increased production three times

At the opening ceremony, the relevant person in charge of the Economic Development Zone introduced that Valeo Group is the world's leading auto parts manufacturer, the leader of the global lighting system, and one of the earliest foreign enterprises to settle in the Wuhan Economic Development Zone.

The relevant person in charge of the Economic Development Zone said that in 1995, Valeo Auto Lighting Company had already taken root in the Wuhan Economic Development Zone. In the past 27 years, Valeo has expanded its Wuhan plant three times and increased production, and has also invested in the construction of Valeo's world's largest R&D center, Valeo China Technology Center, which has become an important pillar of Valeo's service to the global automotive industry, and has also helped the Wuhan Economic Development Zone grow from the former Loess Hills to the "China Car Valley".

The reporter learned that in 1995, the French Valeo Company and Hubei Auto Lamp Factory jointly established the Hubei Valeo Lighting Co., Ltd. of that year. After 27 years of development, the Wuhan factory has now formed a production capacity of 2 million head lamps and 1.5 million rear tail lamps; the current annual output value is 1.5 billion yuan, and the number of employees is 1,200.

The company's main business scope is the research and development, production and sales of automotive lighting equipment, the main products are automotive headlights, tail lights, brake lights and lamp accessories, etc., the main customers are Changan Ford, Geely Automobile, Dongfeng Xiaokang, General Motors, etc., while some of the company's products are used for export, with an annual export volume of about 150 million yuan. In 2021, it will produce 3.4 million automotive lamps, an increase of 61.9% year-on-year, and achieve an output value of 2.23 billion yuan, an increase of 15.4% year-on-year.

"Layout electric, embrace the future, electric vehicles are the future trend, we determined to rely on the Wuhan factory as the industrial manufacturing base for electric vehicle lights, relying on factory intelligent manufacturing, digital industry upgrading and other means, in advance to dock the higher demand of future potential customers." Ma Jianjian said.

According to reports, Valeo's Wuhan factory won heavyweight orders from the world's top car-making new forces last year, and its life cycle sales are expected to exceed 4 billion yuan. The new project will be put into operation in 2022 and fully completed in 2024, and will add more than 1 billion yuan in sales to the Wuhan plant every year from the year of production, and can provide 200 new jobs.

At the same time, with the dongfeng of this new project, Valeo will also build the most advanced and intelligent and unmanned production line of lights and key modules in Asia.
