As we all know, cars are divided into left and right drive, and these countries have the opposite requirement for car beams, which means that car manufacturers need to equip them with different specifications of headlights to meet the local requirements on the road.
The design of different specifications of headlights represents an increase in production costs, so Tesla envisions software to control the propagation of the beam, the power of the headlights and the irradiation range to comply with local regulations.
Tesla claims that their patent could use only computer software to simulate a beam, using a headlamp controller and LED matrix to generate the desired beam, rather than the geometry of the reflector.
For Tesla users, when using the system to move from one country to another, the headlights automatically adapt to local requirements without being refused entry because the lights are out of specification.
Of course, in order to achieve this function, Tesla needs to build a database that meets local needs, while matching the function of triggering changes in the GPS position of the vehicle.
I have to say that in order to reduce costs, Tesla is really doing everything in its power, I don't know how Audi, as a "lamp factory", will feel after the mass production of this headlight is installed.
