SoftBank Group's fiscal third quarter net profit of $250 million, down 99.9% year-on-year

IT Home February 8 news, SoftBank Group today released the third quarter of fiscal 2021 and the first nine months of fiscal year ended December 31.

According to the financial report, SoftBank's net sales from sustainable operations in the fiscal third quarter were 1.5973 trillion yen (about 88.331 billion yuan, $13.838 billion), up 6% from 1.5075 trillion yen in the same period last year, and net profit attributable to shareholders of SoftBank's parent company was 29.048 billion yen (about 1.606 billion yuan, $252 million), down 99.9% from 1.1720 trillion yen in the same period last year.

IT Home learned that when releasing the earnings data, SoftBank also announced the termination of Nvidia's acquisition of Arm, and according to the terms of the agreement, SoftBank will retain the $1.25 billion prepaid by Nvidia, which will be recorded as profit in the fourth quarter, while Nvidia will retain its 20-year Arm license.

SoftBank also announced today that, in coordination with Arm, it will begin preparations for Arm's IPO for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023. SoftBank believes Arm's technology and intellectual property will continue to be at the center of mobile computing and AI development.

As of the end of December 2021, SoftBank's Vision Fund Phase 2 has $51 billion in committed capital and has invested $43.1 billion in more than 200 startups.
