The typical case of the national new data center was released, and 24 operator subsidiary projects were selected

On February 7, 2022, the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the list of typical cases of national new data centers (2021), and a total of 32 large data centers and 12 edge data centers were selected. Among them, China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom's three operator subsidiaries have a total of 24 data centers selected, accounting for more than half.

Judging from the list, the selected data center area is widely distributed, from the first-tier cities to the southeast coast, northeast China, central China, northwest China, Xinjiang and Tibet and other places have been selected, and the operator's subsidiaries in various places have the largest number in the list. For example, China Mobile's subsidiary projects in Gansu, Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Ningxia, Qinghai, Shandong, Shaanxi, Tianjin, Jilin and Yunnan; China Telecom's subsidiaries in Guizhou, Nanjing, Guangxi, Hainan, Ningxia and other subsidiaries; And China Unicom's subsidiaries in Guangdong, Zhengzhou, Chongqing, Nanchong and Zhejiang were selected. In addition, China Unicom Digital Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Unicom, was selected for a total of 3 projects, namely China Unicom Guian Cloud Data Center, China Unicom Langfang Cloud Data Center and China Unicom Hohhot Cloud Data Center. China Mobile subsidiary China Mobile Tietong Co., Ltd. Beijing Branch 1 application project was selected.

In addition, huawei, Alibaba and Baidu, the large internet technology companies on the list, each have one project selected. Among them, Alibaba Jiangsu Cloud Computing Nantong Data Center declared by Alibaba Information Harbor (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. was selected, Huawei Cloud Computing Technology Co., Ltd. declared Wulanchabu Huawei Phase II Data Center was selected, and Baidu Cloud Computing Technology (Shanxi) Co., Ltd. declared Baidu Cloud Computing (Yangquan) Data Center was selected.

According to the notice, according to the requirements of the "Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Organizing and Carrying Out the Recommendation of Typical Cases of National New Data Centers (2021)", in order to accelerate the construction and application of new data centers and better support the digital transformation of various fields of economy and society, the list of typical cases of national new data centers in 2021 was selected through self-declaration, local recommendation, expert review and other links. The announcement period is from February 7 to February 11, 2022.

According to the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, on November 2, 2021, the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the Notice on Organizing and Carrying Out the Recommendation of Typical Cases of National New Data Centers (2021) (hereinafter referred to as the "Notice"). According to the Notice, the typical case recommendation direction of the national new data center (2021) is divided into two aspects: large data center and edge data center.

Among them, large data centers focus on data center infrastructure, operation management, digital technology, and ecological capabilities for key industries such as the Internet, industry, finance, and government affairs, especially in the typical application cases of large and above data centers that have obvious effects in supporting the digital transformation of the industry and empowering thousands of industries. It also proposes a large data center threshold requirement with a single size of 3000 standard racks (2.5kW/rack).

Edge data centers focus on key application scenarios such as 5G, industrial Internet, VR/AR, and smart cities, focusing on data center operation efficiency, computing power, monitoring security, network capabilities, and especially in terms of application characteristics, innovating and highlighting typical application cases of edge data centers that are easy to promote. The scope requires deployment at the edge of the network, close to the user side, and no more than 100 standard racks in a single size.

According to the subdivision classification of the list of selected cases, among the 32 selected large data centers, there are up to 10 green and low-carbon projects, 8 computing power empowerment projects, 8 safe and reliable projects, and 6 intelligent operation projects. Among the 12 selected edge data centers, there are up to 3 smart city projects and 1 each for wood, railway, electric power, government affairs, public security, video, industry, mining, and medical projects.
