Beijing Winter Olympic Torch Closed Loop Relay Begins Bach & Ban Ki-moon and others act as torchbearers

At 10:30 a.m. on February 4, the torch relay under closed-loop conditions was held in the South Park of Beijing Olympic Forest Park. The torchbearers from all over the Olympic family held high the torch and transmitted the light of the Olympic flame symbolizing light, unity, peace and friendship to the central axis of the first "double Olympic city" in the history of the Olympic Games, conveying to the world the Olympic spirit that only by uniting as one can we be faster, higher and stronger.

The torchbearers in the closed-loop relay include IOC President Thomas Bach, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chairman of the IOC Ethics Committee Ban Ki-moon, the President of the Un General Assembly Abdullah Shahid, the IOC Vice President Yu Zaiqing, China's first speed skating Olympic champion and IOC Athletes Committee member Zhang Hong and other members from the "Olympic family". In addition, international friends such as WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, isinbayeva, the world record holder for women's pole vault who has served as a member of the International Olympic Committee, and Yoo Seung-min, a former south Korean table tennis star, have also served as closed-loop torchbearers.

Today, the closed-loop torch relay has a total of 46 sticks, the transmission distance is 5.1 kilometers, and the overall transmission route is from the south gate of the Olympic Forest Park South Park, in a counterclockwise direction, through the east gate and north gate of the Olympic Forest Park South Park, and finally to the Olympic Declaration Square to collect the fire.
