Beijing, July 30 (China News Network) -- The fifth session of the "Dewey China Global Dialogue Activity" was held in Beijing on the 29th. Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stressed during the dialogue that only solidarity can overcome the crisis at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic is raging and global sustainable development is facing a crisis, and building friendship, trust and respect is the only way to achieve unity.

The event was hosted by the Cultural Communication Center of CIPG, the Dewey China Center, and the Ban Ki-moon Center, with the theme of "Cross-cultural Exchange for International Friendship".

Ban Ki-moon highly praised China's important role in global governance, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China has actively acted and led by example in major international affairs such as fighting the epidemic, maintaining peace and sustainable development.

Ban Ki-moon called for the in-depth promotion of cross-cultural exchanges for young people, as well as cross-border, time-space and cross-civilization exchanges and mutual learning activities, and promoted mutual understanding, mutual understanding, mutual support and mutual assistance among peoples of all countries; in particular, with cultural and artistic education as the starting point, actively play the role of international museums, international media and international education leaders in bridging differences and establishing a common history.

Park Yinxia, the former SOUTH Korean ambassador to the United Kingdom, believes that international exchanges should be based on mutual respect, full exchanges and mutual understanding, and blindly emphasizing competition will only make the international arena full of conflicts and confrontations.

Former United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Kim Gyeong-so proposed that sporting events and events can effectively enhance international friendship and demonstrate the cultural soft power and cultural charm of the host country.

Lu Cairong, deputy director of CIPG, proposed that governments, enterprises and social organizations should actively build a platform for international youth dialogue and exchanges, build an equal, diversified and efficient exchange and cooperation network, stimulate the initiative and enthusiasm of young people to participate in dialogue and exchanges, and promote various forms of youth exchanges to go deeper and more concrete.

Shan Jixiang, former director of the Palace Museum, took Hangzhou's West Lake and the Palace Museum as examples to share his thoughts and experiences on the protection of cultural heritage. Luo Huaqing, vice president of Dunhuang Research Institute, shared the institute's experience in promoting the digital dissemination of Dunhuang culture and international exchanges.

The Dewey China Global Dialogue aims to promote exchanges and dialogues between Eastern and Western civilizations, and to promote the "Z generation" youth of the East and the West to establish a pluralistic, equal, inclusive and open civilization concept. (End)
