On May 17, in the precious tree seed orchard of Zhoucun Village, Xin'an Branch of the state-owned Beijianghe Forest Farm in Rongshui Miao Autonomous County, technical experts from the Guangxi Academy of Forestry were explaining the technical essentials of how to control pests and diseases with the technicians of the forest farm seedling station.

In order to further implement the "rural revitalization and ecological melting" to promote agricultural income and accelerate the development of the Camellia oleifera industry chain, Rongshui State-owned Beijianghe Forest Farm actively innovated and explored and promoted the planting of the "Camellia oleifera + N" mixed afforestation model, which improved the land utilization rate by planting other tree species such as Chinese fir, nanmu, big-leaved beech, red bark and red almond, red chinensis and Coptis chinensis among the Camellia oleifera trees, so as to achieve the purpose of increasing the income of forest farmers.

The "Camellia oleifera + N" model is a new forestry management model explored by the forest farm, which afforestation is about 77 trees per mu (55 Camellia oleifera + about 22 N tree species), and the forest farm is currently dominated by timber forests and precious tree species such as Chinese fir, big-leaved beech, red toon, red bark and green grass, so as to create an efficient multi-layer mixed forest, ensure the yield of Camellia oleifera and cultivate high-quality precious tree species, and improve the unit output benefit of forest land. It is also an effective means to solve the problem of single pest and disease prevention in pure forests, which can effectively prevent soil erosion and land desertification, and is of great significance to environmental protection and ecological construction. In addition, the model can also provide more employment opportunities and entrepreneurial platforms for local farmers.

At present, the project has completed 315 acres of mixed afforestation of Camellia oleifera with a survival rate of more than 98%, and the afforestation has achieved preliminary results, laying the foundation and providing a scientific basis for the promotion and application of meltwater forest farmers.
