After working in Shanghai for 9 years and now living in the city, Peter Solomon laughs and says that he is "becoming more and more like a Shanghainese", and that the New Year in Shanghai is life for him:

My family and I love the city and proudly call it home. My daughter was born here, and my son has spent almost all of his life here. We couldn't imagine staying anywhere else.

Shanghai for Peter

It was "lucky to find the place I wanted to stay".

Before meeting Shanghai, Peter worked in the Daegu Symphony Orchestra in South Korea, and it was a whim to turn in the interview: "I always hear that Shanghai is beautiful, and I have seen the scenery of the city in many movies, and when I saw the job postings I turned in, I thought that it was not far from Daegu anyway, so I might as well try it." ”

Chinese like to talk about fate, Peter and Shanghai are about to be related, after passing the interview without hesitation, he decided to come here to live.

"I love Shanghai and I love Chinese culture, and I am fascinated by Chinese characters, calligraphy, and Chinese paintings."

Today, Peter still retains the habit of playing tai chi, getting up at 6:15 a.m. every day, playing tai chi for 20 minutes, sending the children to the school bus, and then going to the orchestra to warm up for the day's rehearsal.

Many people don't know that players and athletes are actually very similar, the art of blowing and playing and singing also needs to be practiced day after day, the body has a memory, and the warm-up can make you enter the state as quickly as possible.

After working in Shanghai for 9 years, Peter is also well versed in the health of Chinese, and on the day of the performance in the evening, he will go home to take a nap: "A nap is conducive to recovering physical strength, and it can also ensure the state of the evening performance." But the nap time can not be too long, otherwise the mind is not clear, and it is important to control the time. ”

SPRING FESTIVAL

Although he is a foreigner, the atmosphere of Peter's family is no less than that of any Shanghai family.

My daughter especially likes to make New Year arrangements for the family, paste blessing characters, hang Chinese knots, Chinese use animals to mark the New Year's Festival, last year was a cow, this year is a tiger, they also feel very novel.

Peter Solomon's daughter was particularly fond of the New Year setting

During the Spring Festival, if the family goes out to eat, Peter's sons and daughters also like to take photos in front of various New Year arrangements, "That is a good time for the family to be together." ”

This year, Peter also arranged a special Chinese New Year activity for the children: "I signed up in a team called 'Historical Shanghai', and participated in two day trips with my son on the theme of Shanghai's history, first to the old town of Yuyuan Garden, where you can see the lanterns at night; the other was to go to the former Jewish refugee gathering area in Hongkou District and listened to a quartet." ”

In his free time, walking around Shanghai with his family is Peter's greatest pleasure, "This is a very charming city, you can see a lot of historical old buildings, you can also see the most modern skyscrapers, living here, is the feeling of home." 」 ”
