On the occasion of the Spring Festival of the Year of the Tiger in the Lunar Calendar, on January 30, the Jimu News reporter learned that the tiger-themed exhibition of Chinese Fu rui zodiac works was launched online on a number of new media platforms such as the WeChat public account of the China Folk Writers Association.
The Zodiac is the crystallization of the wisdom of the Chinese in production and life, with a history of more than 2,000 years, and has endless vitality in the long history of the Chinese nation. The tiger is an important component of the zodiac culture, the tiger, as a beast, is the king of the hundred beasts, and the image of the tiger represents might, justice, glory and the spirit of the king.
The exhibition is sponsored by the Folk Art Center of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, organized by the Color Sculpture Professional Committee of the China Folk Writers Association, and co-organized by Hubei Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing University of Technology, Northeast Normal University, Shantou University and other units. Since the exhibition was called for papers in the second half of 2021, colleges and universities, art academies, professional art institutions and the majority of sculpture workers across the country have enthusiastically submitted papers. According to Li Bing, one of the curators of this exhibition and the Sculpture Department of Hubei Academy of Fine Arts, the exhibition received more than 1,300 sculptures with tigers as the theme, including the latest masterpieces by famous sculptors such as Zhang Kun, Lü Pinchang, Xu Jianguo, and Fu Zhongwang.
The exhibition selects more than 400 high-quality works, which will be divided into 12 phases and will be launched around the Spring Festival of the Year of the Tiger. From the works of the first online exhibition, it can be seen that the exhibits reflect the sculptors' in-depth thinking on the tradition and modernity of the tiger as a zodiac culture, from the perspective of artistic expression, some are figurative traditions, some are full of contemporary sense, some are simple and abstract, some are full of creativity, and the works are both exploratory and innovative in sculpture art, and also achieve elegant and common appreciation. The biggest impression brought by many works to the audience is that it is vigorous and energetic, which fully demonstrates the charm of sculpture art.
Among the sculptures in the first online exhibition, such as "Yinhu Furui", a professor of sculpture at Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts, "Yinhu Furui", in the form of folk painted sculptures, showing a beautiful and lovely girl riding on a tiger with elegance and comfort; Hubei sculptor Fu Zhongwang's "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", expounding the meaning of the era of zodiac culture in the form of words on wood; and Fu Qiang's "Proud Tiger" shows the naughty state of the tiger in an exaggerated form. Sculptures such as Yu Shunjie's "Tiger Baby", Gao Shenghan's "Shivering Wind", and Li Bing's "Nong yin hu jun" all have a strong visual impact.

In the subsequent online exhibition, the audience will also see Lv Pinchang's "Shangshan Tiger", Xu Jianguo's "Dragon Pan Tiger", Fan Haimin's "Paper Tiger", Zhi Min's "Tiger Treasure", Zhao Jianlei's "Nongyin Xiangyun", Chen Wenling's "Tiger tiger Shengwei", Zhou Xuan's "Worry Tiger and Heart", Zhu Chen's "Tiger Wei" and other wonderful works, all with different themes, different materials, different styles, expressing the sculptor's understanding and cognition of the tiger's artistic image.

Xu Jianguo, director of the academic committee of this exhibition and doctoral supervisor of Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts, pointed out that the exhibition not only promotes Chinese civilization with zodiac culture, but also uses art forms to wish the 2022 Lunar New Year.
Liu Maoping, vice president of Hubei Academy of Fine Arts, said that this exhibition is the largest concentrated display of tiger-themed zodiac sculptures in China, which has rich aesthetic value. Peng Fuchun, a professor at Wuhan University, believes that the exhibition reflects the sculptors' respect for tradition in their creations, while being honest and innovative, and is a high-quality "aesthetic education lesson".
