The State Administration of Cultural Heritage recently issued a notice calling for strengthening the management of rubbing of stone carved cultural relics. The notice is clear that the sale of rubbings of inscriptions and stone carvings is strictly restricted. It is necessary to conduct a comprehensive inventory and investigation of the sale of rubbings by cultural relics museum units and their related commercial places. All inscriptions and stone carved cultural relics sold by museums and cultural relics protection and management institutions shall be removed from shelves, registered and archived, and strictly kept; those that have not yet been implemented or are being rubbed shall be immediately stopped and strictly examined. The existing rubbings of inscriptions and stone carved cultural relics in the cultural relics museum units within the jurisdiction should be registered and archived.
