Guilin, Guangxi Province, carried out compulsory verification of electric vehicle charging piles

Charging piles involve the amount of electric energy and electricity bill settlement, and whether the amount value is accurate is directly related to the vital interests of the majority of new energy vehicle owners. Guangxi Guilin Municipal Market Supervision Bureau took the initiative to try first, starting from December 2021, taking the lead in carrying out compulsory verification of electric vehicle charging pile measurement in Guangxi, filling the gap in the Guangxi charging pile verification project.

According to the Announcement on issuing the Catalogue of Measuring Instruments for Compulsory Management issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation in 2019, electric vehicle charging piles used for trade settlement should be subject to compulsory verification in use. In October 2020, the Announcement of the State Administration for Market Regulation on Adjusting the Catalogue of Measuring Instruments implementing compulsory management proposed that electric vehicle charging piles be postponed to January 1, 2023 to implement compulsory verification, and encourage qualified localities to pilot the compulsory verification of electric vehicle charging piles.

According to statistics, at present, there are more than 1300 charging piles used in the field of trade settlement in Guilin, and at this stage, 110 charging piles in use of 3 charging pile operating enterprises have been compulsorily verified.

"Carrying out the strong inspection of charging piles, allowing consumers to use 'assured piles', promoting integrity measurement and assured consumption is the responsibility of the Market Supervision Bureau, and it is also the meaning of the topic of building a world-class tourist city." The person in charge of the Metrology Department of the Guilin Municipal Market Supervision Bureau said that the next step will be to promote the verification and testing of electric vehicle charging piles throughout the city to create a fair consumption environment and help green travel.
