Full-year 2021 revenue hit Samsung's highest revenue to date, and the outstanding performance was mainly driven by mobile business and chip sales.
In the fourth quarter alone, Samsung earned revenue of 76.6 trillion won (about 404.29 billion yuan) and operating profit of 13.9 trillion won (about 73.33 billion yuan), up 24% and 53.3% respectively from the same period in 2020. In the fourth quarter, Samsung's chip business contributed more than half of the company's operating profit with 8.84 trillion won due to strong demand for memory products.
Samsung said that despite the chip shortage, it has benefited from an increase in sales of high-quality smartphones and PC products such as folding phones and the Galaxy S series, making Samsung's mobile business a profit of 2.66 trillion won.
