"Defence on the Flame: A Collection of Poems of Gidimaga" contains the best works of Jidimaga's poetry and the essence of literary speeches and essays at international poetry events. The poetry section selects nearly 200 excellent poems of the author in various periods, and his works mostly take the people, things and customs of the Yi people in his hometown as the theme, and fuse the myths and poetics of the Yi people with modern language into one furnace, which has profound meaning, unique expressiveness and appeal; the essence of literary speeches and essays has a strong lyrical temperament, the language is deep and soft, showing the author's poetic height, international vision, spiritual consciousness and cultural heritage.

The poetry of Gidemaga is both national and universal. "Ji Di Ma jia is the son of the Yi people and a poet of the Yi people." Tang Wenhui, editor-in-chief of Guangxi Normal University Publishing House, pointed out that since his youth writing, Jidi Majia has paid keen and in-depth attention to his own cultural identity, which is his distinctive feature. He grew up in a culture with rich oral traditions, and the influence of the heroic epics of the Yi people, the influence of the bards, coupled with the deep infiltration in the tradition of Chinese character civilization, and the wide absorption of other civilizations and the nourishment of excellent poets, made him a poet with international influence and international significance on the mainland. Literary critic Qiu Huadong emphasized that "Jidimaga is a hurdle between different cultures and civilizations, he is like a healthy horse, an athlete who crosses and communicates back and forth." In this collection of poems, we can see that he can form a dialogue relationship with the great poets of different civilizations, countries, and nationalities, spanning civilizations, languages, and races, presenting an extremely rich cross-border relationship that is difficult to see in the contemporary poetry world. In the past decade, Guidimaga has created a series of long poems, large poems, and group poems that respond to a variety of problems facing contemporary human society, which is very rare among contemporary poets.

From the beginning, Jidimaga's poems had an important quality, that is, they relied on the Yi tradition. The Yi people believe that there is animism, that there is affinity between people and all things, that people have a praise attitude towards external things, and Thati Maga brings the praise of the Yi people to modern poetry creation, and the "I" in his poems represents a positive lyrical protagonist, who deals with negative things through praise and through straight lyricism, and completes the resistance to trivial and lonely epochality. "His writing returned to the poetic tradition of Confucius's time, renewing the praise for what he praised, and from this point of view, he enriched the breadth and breadth of Chinese poetry writing today."

"As a poet of an ancient nation, of course I am lucky, and my good fortune lies in the fact that I am spiritually inherited from the great epic tradition of the Yi people." The Yi are one of the most heroic and creative epics in the world, and all of his writing comes from the culture he is familiar with and such a powerful spiritual cultural background. Continuing the epic tradition is also a huge challenge, the current life is concrete and complex, how to organically connect tradition and reality of writing, for a long time he has been groping.
