2021 blockbuster "Master Chopin"
In September 2021, DG released the global limited edition 28CD set featuring rare recitals, historical best-selling albums, and many recordings released on CD for the first time. Concertos, sonatas, etudes, nocturnes, fantasies and other genres are all-encompassing, aiming to fully present Chopin's golden creations and interpreters' highlight moments to fans.
The set includes interpretations of several winners of the Chopin International Piano Competition: Harina Cherny-Stefanska in 1949, Halasevici in 1955, Pollini in 1960, Aglissi in 1965, Zimmermann in 1975, Deng Taishan in 1980, Bunin in 1985, Li Yundi in 2000, Blehatch in 2005 and Zhao Chengzhen in 2015.
There are also many legendary artists who have interpreted Chopin's works in history, and their classic performances have been gathered in this set of recordings, such as: Barenboim, Michelangerry, Gillers, Ashkenazzi, Fu Cong and others.
Among the recordings released on CD for the first time, the most notable is Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 recorded by Pires with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Pleven in 1991; the rest are Stefan Askenase (CD4), Michel Block (CD9), Halina Czerny-Stefanska (CD13), Julian von Karolyi (CD17), Deng Taishan (CD24), Roberto Szidon (CD25), Fu Cong's (CD26) first released on a disc; and the first international cd (CD16) recorded by 1955 Shaw champion Adam Harasiewicz.
