On January 25th, the night exhibition press conference of "Paint Ink Spring and Autumn Qiao Shiguang Lacquer Painting Art 50 Years National Tour Exhibition Foshan Station" was held in The Creative Warehouse of Baixiao Town, Sanshui District, Foshan.

This night exhibition not only creates a precedent in the history of art in Guangdong Province, realizing a 24-hour non-closing and true night exhibition, but also combines lacquer art, a traditional art category with a history of 8,000 years, with the lights, light and electricity of the night view project of Lingnan Baixiao Ancient Town, to present a unique New Year visual gift for the people who stay in Foshan and the Greater Bay Area for the New Year.
As the most important theme of the night exhibition, Mr. Qiao Shiguang is a famous lacquer painting artist, a pioneer of modern Chinese lacquer art and one of the founders of lacquer painting, a professor of the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University, a director of the China Artists Association, the president of the China Lacquer Painting Research Association, the person who turns the tide of Chinese lacquer art, and the well-deserved "father of Chinese lacquer painting".

Qiao Shiguang has been committed to the innovative practice of Chinese lacquer art and lacquer painting for 50 years, creatively exploring and summarizing a set of production methods based on Chinese lacquer and traditional decoration techniques, and combining the modeling form language of modern decorative painting to form his unique lacquer painting art style. In the past 50 years, Qiao Shiguang has been willing to be lonely, immersed himself in the study of the development of world lacquer art and the ancient history of Chinese lacquer art, guarded the tradition of Chinese lacquer art technology, and continuously promoted the development of lacquer art in China in terms of material form, expression content and technical techniques, not only creating a series of lacquer painting works, but also bringing lacquer art, an art category that is on the verge of a fault, into the world art field.
While immersing himself in research and creation, he also wrote systematic teaching materials to promote lacquer painting into professional colleges and universities, making it an independent subject, and laying the foundation for cultivating successor talents in traditional Chinese lacquer art.

The "50 Years of Lacquer Ink Spring and Autumn Qiao Shiguang Lacquer Painting Art National TourIng Exhibition Foshan Station" hosted by Tsinghua University was launched on January 1, 2022 in Baixiao Town, Sanshui District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, and will be on display until March 31. The exhibition focuses on more than 80 works of lacquer painting, drawing, color ink, calligraphy and other works of Qiao Shiguang in the past 50 years, which are divided into four parts based on the clues of time, corresponding to the four artistic stages of Qiao Shiguang: Seeking for New (1961-1987), Expanding Thick Accumulation (1988-2002), Diversified Fusion (2002-2010) and Returning to Chaos (2011 to the present), covering Qiao Shiguang's artistic journey in a complete way and comprehensively demonstrating his artistic achievements. Exhibition hall 1 shows the content of Qiao Shiguang's artistic life literature in the past 60 years with the chapter of the course of light, the second exhibition hall shows Qiao Shiguang's thinking and contribution to the cause of lacquer painting in theory and practice with the chapter of the thought of light, the third chapter of the creation of light simulates the scene of Mr. Qiao Shiguang's big lacquer garden studio and the display of lacquer art science popularization materials, and the exhibition hall 4 shows mr. Qiao Shiguang's abstract works in his later years and the connection with the Baixiao Lacquer Art Village with the chapter of exploration of light. For the audience, it presents a three-dimensional, vivid, rich and dedicated "Qiao Shiguang".
The natural scenery of Baixiao Town
Baixiao, adjacent to Xijiang, a 4,000-year-old Lingnan ancient town, is an important cultural town in Guangdong and an important part of China's Xiangxian culture. The Baixiao Town Government takes the polishing industry, Xijiang cuisine, lacquer art cultural creation, and Xijiang Gallery "four" business cards to develop rural industries as its work task. Focusing on the creation of the urban cultural brand of "Lacquer Color Yao Xijiang", attracting the attention of Tsinghua University, the China Artists Association and the China Arts and Crafts Society with its thick rural sage culture and cultural background, it perfectly carries the exhibition of "Paint Ink Spring and Autumn Qiao Shiguang Lacquer Painting Art 50 Years National Tour Exhibition Foshan Station".
This night exhibition was successfully organized by the Baixiao Town Government. During the Spring Festival, the daytime exhibition during the night exhibition will be open as usual, and the representative works of Mr. Qiao Shiguang such as "Songkran Festival", "Qinghai-Tibet Plateau" and "Beidou" will show different styles under the cooperation of different lights and shadows day and night, and the creative warehouse will also let the audience appreciate the different style of this 70-year-old building at night.
