It's the summer of the old actors in the studio, and the old audience must know the films he has acted in. He has played many film characters, such as Jin Jiqing in "Flying Knife Hua" and Fu Yin in "Qiu Weng Meets Immortals". I discussed with some of my old friends and agreed that the most classic role played by Mr. Xia was the secret agent Boss Ma in "Yangcheng Dark Sentinel" and the negative character Mu Zhang'a in "Lin Zexu".
In "Yangcheng Dark Sentinel", Boss Ma appears behind a table and is speaking to two newly recruited agents. Mr. Xia's first line: "You can see the timing, join the party-state, and plan successfully in the future, and come to Taiwan..."
His use of eyes, actions, and lines, through sinister and cunning, into the wood three points of the performance, let the audience hate him to the bone.
In the eyes of the old audience, although this movie has been decades, Mr. Xia and the character of Boss Ma are almost identical, just like Feng Zhe is equivalent to Wang Lian in "Yangcheng Dark Sentinel".
In the movie "Lin Zexu", he played the scheming villain Mu Zhang'a. Mr. Summer interprets Mu Zhang'a's hypocrisy and insidious cunning very well. However, he did not simply face the character, but first presented the calm side of Mu Zhang'a's appearance. The image of a minister who trusts the emperor is established, then the villain will be more credible to do bad things.
Mr. Xia was born in Shanghai in 1920. As a child, Summer had a cheerful personality and a wide range of interests, and after middle school, he was fascinated by drama and film, and the progressive films of the thirties had a great influence on him. He aspires to be an actor. In 1938 he came to Chongqing alone. In 1942, he was admitted to the National Academy of Drama and studied theater performance.
In the summer of 1946, Mr. Gong first played a small official of the Kuomintang bureaucracy in the movie "A River of Spring Water Flows East", Chief Gong. Received positive reviews. Since then, he has successively played roles in many films such as "The Spring Light That Can't Be Closed" and "Beauty Walk".
In the summer of 1948, he defected to the Liberated Area of Northern Jiangsu and was transferred to the Chinese Labor Troupe as a drama teacher, playing Mu Renzhi in the "White Haired Girl". After liberation, he entered the Shanghai Film Studio in the summer. For more than 30 years, he has played roles in more than a dozen films such as "Nie Er", "Lin Zexu", and "Reconnaissance of Crossing the River". He played negative roles in most of these films. He believes that the portrayal of the negative characters realistically also has the value of artistic beauty.
Mr. Summer is tall and beautiful. The performance is quite dramatic, fully devoted, and passionate, so although he plays mostly villain roles, it is memorable because of its distinctive characteristics: the roles he has played in many movies have a common feature, that is, the line skills are very good, which is not unrelated to his many years of drama performance.
Mr. Summer later worked as a director, and has been working to cultivate new talents and prosper the film industry.
He died in summer 2005 at the age of 85.
