Since then, from Beijing to Shanghai and then to the whole country, a major anti-American struggle movement in modern Chinese history has begun.
As mentioned in the article "Chinese Students' Anti-Riot Movement" published by the Miller Review on January 11, 1947.
"Chinese people have always believed that misconduct in sexual relations is an extremely serious and bad behavior, but these behaviors have become a simple "private matter" in the eyes of foreigners, and after this incident, the US policy towards China has become the target of criticism from all sides in China, and the political impact of this case has exceeded the case itself!"
Those who are familiar with this historical fact know that the Nationalist Government, which held a powerful state apparatus and occupied a dominant position at that time, could be described as "stupid" in its response to this incident, and failed to achieve satisfactory results in all aspects, and the "Shen Chong Incident" eventually turned into a serious political disaster.
But to say that Chiang Kai-shek at least did one thing right, that is, to ask his wife Song Meiling to personally come out and try to calm down the case in a special way.
In addition, there is another thing worth noting, that is, Shen Chongzai, a Peking University girl who was humiliated by the US military, was a veritable noble daughter of a high-ranking family at that time, she was Lin Zexu's maternal great-great-granddaughter, the great-granddaughter of Shen Baozhen, the governor of Liangjiang and minister of Nanyang, and the granddaughter of the ancient writer Lin Qinnan, and her father Shen Shao also served as the vice minister of the Ministry of Communications in the national government.
From this point of view, Chiang Kai-shek sent his wife Song Meiling to solve this matter, which must also be related to Shen Chong's family background, and if he wants to appease the dissatisfaction of Shen Chong and his family, Song Meiling is naturally the best candidate.
