On January 25th, the publishing ceremony of the new book "China Farmer City", a long-form reportage document documenting the development of Longgang City in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, and writing the development of grassroots farmers' entrepreneurship in China, was held.

The Paper (www.thepaper.cn) learned that the book takes the development of Longgang, the first "town reform city" without townships and streets since the 18th National Congress, as the main line, and tells the real history of the development from a remote small fishing village to China's first peasant city.

The author, Zhu Xiaojun, is a well-known contemporary reportage writer who has won awards such as the Lu Xun Literature Award and the Xu Chi Reportage Award.

It was revealed that the work will be adapted into 32 episodes of the TV series for broadcast. The TV series is jointly produced by the Central Party School Dayou Film and Television Center, and the famous screenwriter Yuan Keping (screenwriter of the TV series "Dajiang Dahe") serves as the chief editor.

According to reports, when Longgang was set up as a town, there were only five small fishing villages and a beach, and without state investment, the town party committee and town government mobilized peasants to raise funds to build the city. Thousands of hungry peasants gathered in Longgang with "urban dreams" and created the "Longgang Speed" that shocked the whole country: 5 years into a strong town, 35 years to withdraw the town and set up a city. Longgang's regional GDP reached 30 billion yuan in 2018, ranking 17th among the top 100 towns in China in terms of comprehensive strength.

Zhu Xiaojun, author of "China's Peasant City"

"This book not only records the process of Longgang's construction and development by farmers from an objective and true standpoint, but also takes the problem of the living conditions of Chinese rural areas and Chinese farmers as the dark line, showing the unique people-oriented, native and spontaneous new urbanization path of Longgang." Zhu Xiaojun told the surging news.

Li Gao, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and director of the Information Office of the Provincial Government, said at the book publishing ceremony that the publication and distribution of "China Farmers' City" shows the high sense of mission and responsibility of Zhejiang Publishing to promote the construction of the common prosperity demonstration area, "This book not only tells the history of the development of Longgang, but also presents readers with a preliminary report on the construction of a common prosperity demonstration area, a zhejiang exploration to promote urbanization and rural revitalization strategy." ”
