Nandu News Reporter Xie Xiangnan Recently, the "Sheng Sheng - Yang Gang Art Exhibition" was launched at the Shenzhen Art Museum, which was sponsored by the Shenzhen Art Museum, the Beijing Artists Association, and the Beijing Academy of Painting, and presented in the two exhibition halls of the Shenzhen Art Museum, A and B. The exhibition takes the theme of the Winter Olympics as the starting point, and exhibits a total of 97 works of ink, sketching and calligraphy created by artist Yang Gang between 2000 and 2018. The exhibition was included in the "Meet in Beijing" Olympic Cultural Festival and the 22nd "Meet in Beijing" International Art Festival, which will become a dynamic and beautiful and unlimited scenery in the cultural and artistic feast during the Beijing Winter Olympics. Hall A of Shenzhen Art Museum focuses on Mr. Yang Gang's paintings on the theme of the Winter Olympics, and Hall B exhibits Mr. Yang Gang's calligraphy works and paintings on grassland, concerts and other themes. The exhibition will run until February 15.
Nandu reporter learned that Yang Gang (1946-2019), a national first-class artist of the Beijing Academy of Painting, was a member of the China Artists Association. Born in Henan, he moved to Beijing with his parents in 1948. In 1978, he was admitted to the first postgraduate class of the Chinese Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and studied Chinese painting under the guidance of Ye Qianyu, Jiang Zhaohe, Li Keyan, Li Kuchan, Liu Lingcang, Lu Shen and Zhou Sicong. After graduating in 1981, he was assigned to work at the Beijing Academy of Painting. He is good at ink painting, sketching, oil painting, brushwork, etc., and has held exhibitions in Hong Kong, Spain, Germany and other places.
Chen Lusheng, artistic director of the Shenzhen Art Museum, agrees that Yang Gang bases realism on the way of self-expression, and shows a state of freedom rarely seen in this era outside of the mainstream. Therefore, Yang Gang's art has a unique interest, which is the feeling of painting. This kind of interest is not what people call pen and ink, nor is it the form or other form that people often say, but belongs to the freedom of his heart. On the occasion of the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, some of Yang Gang's winter sports and Olympic competition works are selected, so that the audience can understand and recognize Yang Gang's art, and use these arts with life and passion to popularize the Olympic spirit, not only higher, faster, stronger, more united, but also more artistic.
Wu Hongliang, president of the Beijing Academy of Painting, said that Mr. Yang Gang is the predecessor of the Beijing Academy of Painting, humble and determined, not seeking fame and fortune, and hiding in the city. We have also only met at events to commemorate Zhou Sicong and Lu Shen. And I paid attention to his work very early on, it is a very pure painting, and I also like it very simply. Yang Gang emphasizes the quality of pen and ink and shape, has a character but is not very flattering, although people in his circle who are familiar with him have praised it, but it is difficult to see to the public, and there is also a certain threshold in understanding. Therefore, for Yang Gang's promotion, it really needs an opportunity for everyone to further understand this great artist of the Beijing Academy of Painting. In addition to the academic exploration, the exhibition reproduced the scene of Mr. Yang Gang sketching on the TV, and the audience can also try the pleasure and difficulty of the pen in the exhibition hall; the exhibition also specially exhibits the image of the Winter Olympics theme painted by Mr. Yang Gang with red paper, which is naturally a little more joyful; Yang Gang's Winter Olympics theme works have long become the image of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics public art global collection activities because of their extraordinary expressiveness, and the project's animated short videos are also exhibited in the exhibition.
