After the September 18 Incident, until the early stage of the War of Resistance Against Japan, two things that had a relatively large impact on China, one of which was that Puyi came to power in Manchukuo, as the last emperor of China, the restoration of the country was naturally his lifelong wish, but with the help of the Japanese, not to mention what the chances of success were, how much was he voluntary, how much was coerced?
In the public's perception, Puyi was kidnapped by agents of the Japanese Kwantung Army to Changchun as the Emperor of Manchuria. Is this really the case? Is it that simple?
As we have introduced before, the September 18 Incident was definitely not an accidental event. Half a year before the incident, Puyi was in Tianjin Jingyuan and learned at least four times that Japan would occupy the three eastern provinces by force.

February 21, 1931. A member of the Japanese Parliament, Takayama Yamamoto, came to Puyi for discussions and to investigate the issue of agricultural reclamation and the Church of Asia Minor. The agricultural reclamation investigation is actually a secret agent investigation activity, and making Puyi the leader of the Asian church alliance is actually an exercise exercise for the rulers of the puppet regime.
On July 23, 1931, Pujie returned from Japan and brought back news: Japan was dissatisfied with Zhang Xueliang's rule, and perhaps took action in Manchuria, China, and established Puyi as the ruler.
On July 29, 1937, a Japanese representative gave Puyi a fan with the words "Heaven is not empty, and there is no Fan Li at the time." ", implying that Puyi endured humiliation and burden, lying down and tasting courage, there must be a post-report.
In August 1931, Puyi sent someone to Tokyo to inquire about the news, and basically determined the previous speculations.
From all indications, Puyi had some foresight about the 918 incident and had a more positive attitude.
After the September 18 Incident, he sent Liu Junye to the northeast secretly and met with Yasuya Uchida and Honjo To investigate. At the same time, Tong Jixu took the initiative to contact the Manchu Qing widows in the northeast and sent Shang Yanying to lobby some generals in the northeast.
On October 11, Puyi sent his teacher, Toyama Makoto, with the imperial pen yellow silk, to Japan, and together with the Japanese Lu Xiang Nanjiro and the leader of the Black Dragon Society, Touyama Man, asked them for assistance in completing the great cause of restoring the Qing Dynasty.
But when to get out of the customs, Puyi's internal old Chen, there was a disagreement!
Chen Baochen believes that with the help of Japan's strength, the restoration of the Qing Dynasty is simply not credible! It is believed that the time for Puyi to get out of the customs has not yet arrived, and it is still necessary to continue to observe.
Zheng Xiaoxu believed that if you want to restore the Qing Dynasty, you must rely on foreign officials, and after the incident, the Japanese will definitely ask Puyi to leave the customs and go to the northeast to take charge, and the great cause of restoration can be realized.
In fact, at this time, the Japanese wanted to win over Puyi, and Chiang Kai-shek was also fighting for him.
On September 30, 1931, Puyi met two people at Haiguang Temple, one was the representative of Itagaki Seishiro, Andro Kamikata, and the other was Luo Zhenyu, the representative of Zhang Zuoxiang of the Northeast Army.
On November 2, 1931, Kenji Toihara came to Jingyuan and met Puyi.
There is a small point, we explain in advance, although Puyi wants to use the power of Japan to restore the Qing Empire, but he does not want to be a puppet.
In order to get Puyi hooked, Kenji Toihara began to use deception, telling Puyi that the Kwantung Army had no ambition to occupy Manchuria, but sincerely wanted to help the Manchurian people and establish a new country of its own.
Puyi asked: What kind of country is it?
Toihara: It is an independent country that is completely ruled by Emperor Xuantong.
Puyi: Is it a republic, or an imperial system?
Kenji Toihara continued to emphasize that it was an imperial system in which Emperor Xuantong ruled alone.
Under such sweet words, Puyi was deceived and decided to get out.
During this period of time, Chiang Kai-shek also sent people to find Puyi, as long as Puyi did not go to the northeast or settled in Japan, he could restore the preferential conditions for the Qing Dynasty, and Puyi could live in Nanjing or Beiping at will. However, this condition, which had no temptation for Puyi at all, was rejected on the spot.
In fact, there is another reason, Sun Dianying stole the tomb of the Qing Emperor, and although Chiang Kai-shek asked Yan Xishan to investigate this matter, the final result was "not to be investigated", which was a huge shame for Puyi
On November 10, 1931, Puyi took the small steamboat "Bijishan Maru", forced his way through the Bai River, evaded the inspection of the Chinese army, arrived at Dagukou, boarded the Japanese merchant ship "Awaji Maru", and left Tianjin.
After arriving in Changchun, the only place that made Puyi dissatisfied was that the Japanese army let him first govern and then become emperor.
