On January 22, the Dongfeng-Ganfeng High Specific Energy Solid-State Battery E70 demonstration operation vehicle developed by Dongfeng Motor Company and Ganfeng Lithium was officially delivered, and the 50 Sets of Dongfeng Fengshen E70 released for the first time will be launched as solid-state battery demonstration operation vehicles in Jiangxi, Guangzhou, Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces.
Different from the lithium battery car on the market, the solid-state battery equipped with the Dongfeng Fengshen E70 demonstration operation vehicle adopts the world's leading solid-state flexible diaphragm technology, which has withstood rigorous tests such as single body puncture and 50% extrusion deformation, while the discharge temperature is as high as 60 °C, the hot box is 180 °C without abnormality, and the eigenvalue safety advantages of the battery cell are outstanding.
The solid-state battery module equipped with the car adopts aluminum alloy frame and high-precision seam laser welding technology to reduce redundant structures and achieve a group efficiency of more than 86%.
In addition, for the unique chemical properties of solid-state batteries, combined with a large number of experimental data, Dongfeng Fengshen has achieved "tailor-made" in the BMS algorithm, and after continuous optimization, a stable and reliable solid-state battery management system has been formed, and the solid-state battery system has also withstood the harsh experimental environment in terms of waterproof, explosion-proof, earthquake-resistant, structural strength and other aspects.
Industry insiders believe that solid-state batteries are the most ideal solution for new energy vehicle batteries.
Dongfeng has taken solid-state batteries as an important strategic direction and has officially established projects since 2018; in July 2019, Dongfeng and Ganfeng began to cooperate in the development of the first-generation solid-state battery system; in June 2020, the vehicle equipped with the first-generation solid-state battery system rolled off the production line, and signed the Dongfeng-Ganfeng "solid-state battery demonstration operation" strategic cooperation agreement in June 2021.
Previously, some experts said that solid-state batteries cannot be commercialized within 5 years, and semi-solid-state batteries are a transitional solution before the arrival of all-solid-state batteries. However, from the perspective of the Dongfeng Fengshen E70 solid-state battery demonstration operation vehicle released this time, the car has taken the first step in demonstration operation and will provide valuable experience for the large-scale commercial use of solid-state batteries.
