The list of new year goods of the ancients, there are so many delicacies! Some of you may not have seen it

author:Soyan talks about poetry

Customarily, we buy before the Spring Festival, collectively referred to as "New Year goods". A word "do" can be seen that this is not a very ordinary thing.

Speaking of which, thanks to the era we are in now, not only is the material abundant, the logistics are also developed, and almost every household's Annual goods can be quite rich.

What to eat, what to wear, what to use, what to play... It seems that it is not very fresh anymore.

Maybe it is also like this, the taste of the year is getting weaker and weaker, right?

It seems that this is indeed the case. Especially compared with ancient times, when it was still a small peasant economy, barely enough to be self-sufficient. In addition, logistics are not developed, and it is not an easy task to buy goods for the New Year.

In this regard, as a modern person, we probably all have enough self-confidence.

But in fact, is this really the case?

The list of new year goods of the ancients, there are so many delicacies! Some of you may not have seen it

According to the "Past Events of Wulin", as soon as the tenth month of the lunar calendar, the chaotianmen inside and outside the Chaotian gate of Lin'an, the capital of the Southern Song Dynasty, were already:

"Bidding for brocades, new calendars, all kinds of large and small door gods, peach charms, bells, foxes, tiger heads and golden flowers, spring thesis hats and so on."

What new clothes and hats, what lantern hanging ornaments, as well as a variety of door stickers, such as door gods, peach charms, and more children's love to wear clothes, love to play toys...

Not only is the variety complete, but also directly hits the pain points of human nature. After all, if you save and cut again, you can't lose your children in the New Year!

Perhaps, some friends will feel impatient. Isn't this something to wear, to use and to play, and where to eat?

Don't worry, after all, this is the tenth month of the lunar calendar.

According to the "Tokyo Dream Record", as soon as the lunar month came, in the street market of the Northern Song Dynasty, small traders and vendors selling various vegetables and vegetables appeared. Among them, there are also many out-of-season vegetables:

"In December, the street market sells flowers, leeks, lettuce, orchid sprouts, bohol, walnuts, Andezhou dumplings..."

What is "Sprinkler Flower"?

It is now difficult to verify. In my estimation, it is likely to be soybean sprouts. Because the clusters of soybean sprouts resemble the Linden flower, and the Bodhi flower is also called the Buddha flower, so it is called the Buddha Flower.

As for Zezhou dumplings (sugar), it is a food such as molasses fried. In the Song Dynasty, people often called this type of food "fruit", which means snacks and snacks. It is said that when people drank alcohol, they liked to drink on this type of food.

And that's not all. The most surprising thing is that there are leeks, lettuce, orchid sprouts, and mint (mint)!

Please note that it is now nine cold winters, and these are all out-of-season vegetables!

Where did they come from?

You may not believe it when you say it. These out-of-season vegetables are all in greenhouses.

In fact, the technology of greenhouses, according to the "Book of Han and the Biography of The Summoning Letter", was still mastered by our ancients during the Western Han Dynasty.

"Taiguan Garden plants winter green onions and leeks, covers the roof, and contains fire day and night."

The so-called "Taiguan" is somewhat similar to the "Imperial Dining Room" in the Imperial Palace of the Qing Dynasty, which is in charge of both the "Imperial Dining Room" of the Emperor's meal and the "Jingshan Qing Official" who manages the sacrificial items. In the vegetable garden he manages, there is a building like a house, which is planted with "green onions and leeks".

A little further north, instead of building a greenhouse in the garden, digging a cellar and making a fire. For example, Xie Zhaozhe of the Ming Dynasty recorded in his "Five Miscellaneous Tricks, Volume XI":

"In the middle of winter, there are yellow sprouts and leeks, which are made in the fire pit of the cellar."

It can be seen that our ancients, for a "eat" word, are indeed enough to spell.

Since there is no shortage of vegetables, what about meat?

Of course, there will be no shortage.

According to the "Tokyo Dream Record", there was a night market in Tokyo's Bieliang City at that time, called "Shubashi Night Market".

In this place, it is already:

"When the street water rice, stewed meat, dried meat; Wang Louqian badger, wild fox, meat, chicken; Mei family, deer family goose duck chicken rabbit belly lungs, eel buns, chicken skin, waist kidneys, chicken crumbles..."

What chicken, duck and fish meat, as well as all kinds of animal offal, is simply too common.

Even some wild game, there is no lack of it.

When winter enters, especially from the beginning of november of the lunar calendar, it is more lively here, and the merchants are more intimate:

"Winter moon coil rabbit swirling, pork skin meat, wild duck meat, dripping crisp crystal, pig dirty and so on."

What is "swirling rabbit"?

It may be similar to today's roast duck, but it needs to be turned by hand.

There is also "drip crisp crystal", which must be more delicious than the current one! As for some of the meat we usually use when we mix cold vegetables now, we already had them at that time.

In the Qing Dynasty, according to the "Kyoto Customs", the choice of food when buying New Year goods was not only rich, but also divided into roads.

For example, meat such as pigs, sheep, chickens, etc., is really ordinary, and it is called "road goods". In addition, there are "Kanto goods", such as "venison, pheasants, frozen fish" and the like. There are also people from Jiangnan, such as "water mill rice cakes, sugar rice cakes, cold bamboo shoots, magnolia slices and the like."

From the above contents, it is not difficult to see that in the list of new year goods of the ancients, especially in terms of food, it is not only not worse than we are now, but actually much richer!

However, as Xie Zhaozhe said in "Five Miscellaneous Tricks":

"The poor can't do it."

So, what kind of scene was the Ancient Poor New Year?

If you are interested in the friends of the headlines, we may wish to take a look at it together in the next picture.
