Thailand has recently taken a big step toward becoming the first Southeast Asian country to legalize cannabis. On February 8, local time, Thai Public Health Minister Anutin signed a ministerial announcement to officially remove cannabis and cannabis products from the national list of Class 5 drugs, a decision that will take effect in about 4 months. Anutin stressed that cannabis has multiple uses in medical and other fields, and in the future, Thai people will be able to legally grow cannabis for medical purposes. However, due to the "hallucinogenic drug" nature of cannabis, the government will still appropriately control cannabis cultivation. (The Paper)
