On December 29, 2021, at the 2022 New Year's Eve Science Lecture held by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences chatted with the audience about science, from simple equations to gauge field theory; from the origin of human beings to the quantum revolution, the people on the stage spoke with input and the people offstage listened attentively. When talking about aliens, a topic that the public likes to hear, Academician Wu Xiangping said amazingly: "As a professional astronomer, we first believe in the existence of aliens. Hearing Academician Wu's words, the audience showed a surprised expression. After all, as "regulars" in various folk magazines and forums, aliens are still classified as anecdotes in the eyes of the public, and it is difficult to associate them with rigorous science.

In fact, in the past half century, extraterrestrial civilizations have always been an important topic of exploration and research in the scientific community, and human beings have never given up the search for extraterrestrial life. As early as 1960, humans began using global radio telescopes to search for radio signals; in 2016, scientists observed an Earth-like planet Proxima b in the habitable zone; in 2019, the Parks Observatory in Australia received a radio signal from Proxima Centauri...

On June 23, 2021, the British newspaper The Guardian published a report that researchers found that 46 star systems in 1715 star systems in the adjacent region of Earth are close enough to us, and 29 of them are in a good observation position to listen to human radio and television signals. It turns out that when we are struggling to find traces of alien civilizations, they may be observing the Earth.

As soon as the message was sent, it instantly detonated the major website forums. Optimistic people are full of expectations for extraterrestrial communication; cautious people are skeptical of the friendship of extraterrestrial life; and even more they shout about the destruction of the earth and the end of mankind. For a time, the topic of alien related topics was boiling over, so it was not lively. After the heat cools, two questions remain: Do aliens really exist? If aliens exist, will humans really be monitored by alien civilizations at all times?

In search of aliens, humans have sent many friendly signals into the vast space, but they have not been responded to. Is the "letter" still on the way? Or was the signal intercepted by aliens? The famous "zoo hypothesis" gives the answer, which proposes that the reason why humans have not been able to find extraterrestrial life is because the earth and even the solar system are a "cage", and humans are experimental products that are captive by extraterrestrial life.

This hypothesis is bold but logical, if humans are compared to animals in cages, "animals" really cannot observe the world outside the cage, which also explains to some extent why humans have not been able to rush out of the solar system so far. However, the "zoo hypothesis" also has its own problem of inconsistency: if humans are experiments in captivity with aliens, how will the denied theory of evolution explain the origin of aliens. So, to understand whether extraterrestrial life exists and where humans are in the universe, we have to answer the question of the starting point: How did the universe begin?

From the moment mankind began to think, there was no end to the imagination of the origin of the universe, and in the era of obscurantism, the ancients around the world invariably explained the beginning of the universe in the form of religious myths. Christianity believes that God created everything; in the Quran Allah all things were created in six days; and ancient Greek mythology believes that the universe began in chaotic Kaos. In the Legend of the Chinese Nation's "Pangu Opening Up the Heavens and the Earth", the chaos of heaven and earth is compared to a chicken, and it is Pangu who splits the heavens and the earth and transforms the body into all things; the Taoist ancestor Li Er (Lao Tzu) in the Spring and Autumn Period opened the Tao Te Ching with a clear meaning: "The Tao can be Tao, the extraordinary Tao; the name can be named, the very name is very famous." None, the beginning of the name of heaven and earth; yes, the mother of all things. Lao Tzu believed that the Tao was the beginning of the universe; the Tao was the beginning of all things.

With the budding development of science and technology, people have a deeper understanding of the origin of the universe. In 1948, scientist Gamov proposed one of the most accepted theories of the origin of the universe, the Big Bang theory, which Gamov believed was a primeval big bang about 13.7 billion years ago. In 1965, scientists Wilson and Penzias detected background radiation mentioned in the Big Bang theory, proving the big bang theory. Although the Big Bang theory is still imperfect and there are many phenomena in the universe that this theory cannot explain, it is already the theory of the origin of the universe that can explain more astronomical problems in the human scientific community at this stage.

Looking back at the process of human exploration of the origin of the universe, generations of astronomers, philosophers, physicists, and mathematicians have put forward many ideas and hypotheses, but due to the limitations of the level of scientific knowledge, where the universe began has always been a world problem. Time has come to the 21st century, with the rapid development of basic science, philosophy, materials science and other theoretical and practical capabilities, human beings have the most ideal material theoretical basis for exploring the unknown.

From May to December 2021, China's Tiangong space station from the implementation of on-orbit tests to the realization of long-term manned residence, Chinese step by step on the road to the universe, the establishment of the space station successfully narrowed the distance between mankind and the universe. On December 25 of the same year, the James Webb Space Telescope, which cost $10 billion to develop for 25 years, was successfully launched and flew to L2 point in Lagrange, where Weber will continue to look up at the stars as a human eye, looking for the secrets behind the universe. We need to believe that we have never been so close to the truth as we are today.
