CAAM: New energy vehicle market penetration reached 19.1% in December 2021

On January 19, the WeChat public account of "China Automobile Association Data" released the "Brief Analysis of the Production and Sales of New Energy Vehicles in December 2021", and the market penetration rate of new energy vehicles reached 19.1% in December 2021.

According to the statistical analysis of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, new energy vehicles will become the biggest highlight of the automotive industry in 2021, and the sales volume will be the first in the world for 7 consecutive years. Its market development has shifted from policy-driven to market-driven new development stage, showing a good development situation of both market scale and development quality, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the "14th Five-Year Plan" automobile industry.

The data shows that the market penetration rate of new energy vehicles reached 19.1% in December 2021, which continued to be higher than that of the previous month, of which the market penetration rate of new energy passenger cars reached 20.6%.

In terms of the number of production and sales, in December 2021, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 518,000 units and 531,000 units, respectively, hitting a record high, an increase of 1.2 times and 1.1 times respectively year-on-year.

In the whole year of 2021, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 3.545 million units and 3.521 million units, respectively, an increase of 1.6 times year-on-year, and the market share reached 13.4%, 8 percentage points higher than that of the previous year.

From the perspective of subdivision models, in December 2021, the single-month production and sales of pure electric vehicles also refreshed the record. The production and sales of pure electric vehicles increased by 1.1 times year-on-year; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles increased by 1.6 times and 1.2 times respectively year-on-year; and the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles increased by 1.4 times and 1.1 times respectively.

In the whole year of 2021, compared with the same period last year, the production and sales of pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles showed a rapid growth momentum. (End)
