Mei Baojiu is Mei Lanfang's youngest child, he has several brothers and sisters above him, but unfortunately 5 of them have unfortunately died, and Mei Baojiu's path to Peking Opera is not very smooth, originally Mei Lanfang should have forced her children to follow their own learning of Peking Opera, but the fact is that Mei Lanfang does not do this, but the children choose for themselves.
But Mr. Mei Lanfang is very smart, he will guide the children to contact Peking Opera from time to time, the purpose of this is undoubtedly to stimulate people's interest, and Mei Baojiu is in such a situation that he has developed a love for Peking Opera.
Since Mei Baojiu fell in love with Peking Opera, his father Mei Lanfang began to cultivate him intensively, and he arranged for Wang Youqing and others to cultivate his son's basic skills, such as learning to sing well first, and then starting to learn Meipai art after becoming fully proficient.
In addition, Mei Lanfang also has a very important requirement for Mei Baojiu, that is, it is necessary to learn culture well, and her father once said: "Drama is to be learned, but culture cannot suffer losses, these must do a good job in basic skills."
With the founding of New China, Mei Baojiu and his father came to Beijing, and in the days that followed, he often performed with his father on stage, for Mei Baojiu, such an opportunity is undoubtedly very precious, after all, his father is a master of Peking Opera, and being able to perform with him is undoubtedly a great improvement in his ability.
Unfortunately, mr. Mei Lanfang unfortunately died early, for the death of his father, Mei Baojiu was naturally very sad, and then his own Achievements in Peking Opera were far from enough, and it was at this time that Mei Baojiu really felt that his responsibility was incomparably great, because he was the only one in the family who could inherit his father's mantle, his two brothers did not enter the opera industry, and although his sister entered the industry, she was only a martial artist.
Not long after, Mei Baojiu began to learn from his teacher, but a few years later, due to special periods, Mei Baojiu's Peking Opera road was suspended for a time, and it was not until 1979 that Mei Baojiu's Peking Opera road continued to be opened.
And Mei Baojiu finally learned something and mastered the essentials of Meipai art very well, at that time Mei Baojiu often performed, and his performance every time was full of audience, because everyone could finally appreciate the charm of Meipai art again.
Later, Mei Baojiu also served as the head of the Mei Lanfang Peking Opera Troupe of the Beijing Opera House, so why did Mei Baojiu and Li Yugang have a great contradiction later? In fact, the original Mei Baojiu still greatly appreciated Li Yugang, but after Li Yugang became famous, the remarks of some fans in the society were indeed extreme, such as "before There was Mei Lanfang, after there was Li Yugang", for this kind of remark, Mei Baojiu was extremely angry.
Especially in a CCTV party, Li Yugang said "I represent the profound Meipai art to the audience..." After this sentence, it really made Master Mei Baojiu extremely angry on the spot, and he whisked his sleeves away, and later said the cruel words of "death is not forgiven".
At about 11:00 a.m. on April 25, 2016, Peking Opera master Mei Baojiu died of illness at the age of 82.
