Zhengzhou, January 19 (China News Network) -- On January 19, the reporter learned from the Department of Natural Resources of Henan Province that the "14th Five-Year Plan" of Henan Province for Land Space Ecological Restoration and Forest Construction In Henan (hereinafter referred to as the "Planning") has been officially released. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Henan will complete the scale of artificial afforestation of 172,700 hectares, build 50 new provincial-level forest cities, and by 2025, the forest coverage rate will reach 26.09%, and the forest Henan will be basically completed.

The "Planning" proposes that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Henan Province will implement major projects for the ecological restoration of land space and the protection and development of forestry. Through comprehensively promoting the ecological restoration of national land space, the main tasks of ecological restoration along the Yellow River, mountain barrier areas, important ecological corridors and ecological patches, plain agricultural ecological conservation areas and urban spaces are clarified.

In terms of ecological restoration, Henan will focus on the restoration and construction of important ecological corridors such as the Yellow River, the HuaiHe River, the trunk canal of the central line of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, the Sui-Tang Grand Canal, the Ming and Qing Yellow River Old Road and the Shaying River, the integrated restoration project of landscape, forest, lake, grass and sand in the ecological barrier areas of Nantaihang, Funiu Mountain, Tongbai-Dabie Mountain, etc., the comprehensive land improvement project and the urban ecological space quality improvement project.

During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Henan Province will focus on the implementation of six projects, including the pilot demonstration of ecological forest construction in the water source area of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, the construction of national reserve forests, the control of rock desertification in Nanyang, the precise improvement of forest quality, the improvement of farmland forest network in plain areas, and the construction of forest cities.

According to the target, the scale of artificial afforestation will also be completed 172,700 hectares, 19,500 hectares of greening of Taihang Mountain, national reserve forests and other afforestation projects damaged by the disaster, the quality of forests will be accurately improved by 668,700 hectares, the improvement and restoration of farmland forest networks (equivalent to 55,000 hectares), 50 new provincial forest cities will be built, the forest stock will reach 222.69 million cubic meters, and the forest coverage rate will reach 26.09%.

At the same time, Henan Province will also promote the three key areas of land space ecological restoration and forestry protection and development, namely ecological protection and conservation, ecological restoration and comprehensive improvement.

Among them, the "key areas for ecological protection and conservation" are mainly distributed in the above three mountain ecological barriers and various types of natural protected areas within the Ecological Belt of the Yellow River; the key areas of ecological restoration mainly include the historical mines in the hilly areas of the mountains, the coal mining subsidence areas in Zhengzhou, Luoyang, Pingdingshan, Hebi, Jiaozuo, Sanmenxia and Yongcheng, the soil erosion areas in the loess hills of western Henan, the rocky desertification areas in Nanyang, the concentrated mining areas of building materials and minerals in the western mountains of Zhumadian, and the habitat fragmentation of river wetlands destroyed by sand mining activities. Areas with fragile ecological environments; the key areas for comprehensive improvement mainly include agricultural areas in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain and Nanyang Basin, flood storage and detention areas in the Haihe, Yellow and Huaihe River basins, and areas such as the Ming and Qing Yellow River Ancient Roads.

According to the "Planning", by 2025, the forest Henan will be basically completed. Significant progress has been made in the protection and management of large rivers, mountains, and great plains. The forest resources have increased steadily, the quality of forests has been significantly improved, the carbon sink capacity has been significantly enhanced, the integration and optimization of natural protected areas has been fully completed, biodiversity has been effectively protected, the green and enriched industries have become more prosperous, the quality and stability of ecosystems such as forests, grasslands, wetlands, and farmlands have been significantly enhanced, and the ecological corridors of the Yellow River have been basically completed; the outstanding ecological problems of important mountains and rivers have been effectively solved, the ecological restoration of historical mines in key areas has been basically completed, and the ecological barriers have been more solid. The quality of the water ecological environment and farmland ecosystem in the basin has been significantly improved, the level of urban ecological livability has been significantly improved, and the ecological protection and restoration is at the forefront of the Yellow River Basin.
