At 0-24:00 on January 18, 2022, 15 new confirmed cases of imported COVID-19 were reported through the joint prevention and control mechanism at ports. There were 13 new cured and discharged cases, including 5 cases from the United States, 4 cases from Canada, 1 case from Mexico, 1 case from Singapore, 1 case from the United Arab Emirates, and 1 case from the United Kingdom.

Case 1, a French national, visited relatives in France, departed from France, arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 10 January 2022, and was placed under centralized isolation and observation after entering customs, during which he developed symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 2, a Chinese national working in Papua New Guinea, departed from Papua New Guinea, transited through Australia, arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 12 January 2022, and was placed under centralized isolation and observation after entering customs, during which he developed symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 3, a Chinese national who studied in Hungary, departed from Hungary, transited through Germany, arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 13 January 2022, and was placed under centralized isolation and observation after entering customs, during which he developed symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 4, a Chinese national who studied in the United States and departed from the United States, arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 13 January 2022 and was placed under centralized isolation and observation after entering customs, during which he developed symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 5, a Chinese national working in Côte d'Ivoire, departed from Côte d'Ivoire, transited through France, arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 14 January 2022, and was placed under centralized isolation and observation after entering customs, during which he developed symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 6, a Chinese national who studied in South Korea and departed from South Korea, arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 14 January 2022 and was placed under centralized isolation and observation after entering customs, during which he developed symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 7, a Chinese national working in Russia, departed from Russia and arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 14 January 2022, where he was placed under centralized isolation and observation after entering customs, during which he developed symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 8, a Chinese national who visited relatives in Hong Kong, departed from Hong Kong and arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 3 January 2022, was placed under centralized isolation and observation after entering customs, and when symptoms appeared before the isolation was lifted, he was sent to a designated medical institution for isolation and investigation. After consultation with the expert group, the diagnosis was confirmed as a confirmed case based on the epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests and imaging test results.

Case 9-Case 11 is all Chinese nationals, Case 9 works in Germany, departs from Germany, Case 10 works in Namibia, departs from Namibia, transits through Germany, Case 11 works in Colombia, departs from Colombia, transits through Germany, Case 9-Case 11 takes the same flight, arrives at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on January 4, 2022, is under centralized isolation and observation after entering customs, and when symptoms appear before the isolation is lifted, it is sent to a designated medical institution for isolation and investigation. After consultation with the expert group, the diagnosis was confirmed as a confirmed case based on the epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests and imaging test results.

Case 12, a Chinese national who studied in the United States, departed from the United States, arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 15 January 2022, and was placed under centralized isolation and observation after entering customs, during which he developed symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 13, a Hungarian national, visited relatives in Hungary, departed from Hungary, transited through Germany, arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 16 January 2022, and was sent to a designated medical institution for isolation and observation after entering customs because of symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 14, a Japanese national living in Japan, departed from Japan and arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 16 January 2022, where he was placed under centralized isolation and observation after entering customs, during which he developed symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 15, a Chinese national who travelled in Finland and departed from Finland, arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 17 January 2022 and was sent to a designated medical institution for isolation and observation after entering customs because of symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Fifteen imported confirmed cases have been transferred to designated medical institutions for treatment, and 212 close contacts of the same flight have been traced, and centralized isolation and observation have been implemented.

At 0-24:00 on January 18, 2022, 2 cases of imported asymptomatic infection abroad were released from medical observation.
