"Hot Air Balloon Aviator": A pseudo-true story adaptation of the movie, I know the truth and I have tears falling

In 1862, the death-defying balloon pilot Emilia Lane (Felicity Jones) teamed up with meteorological pioneer James Glaisher (Eddie Redmayne) to advance humanity's understanding of the weather and fly to heights never reached.

The Balloon Runner claimed from the start to be based on true events, but changed the gender of one of the characters. Henry Coxwell is the one who went to heaven with James Gleischer, and the film replaces him with the fictional female character Emilia Wren.

"The Hot Air Balloon Pilot" is actually a fusion of the stories of the pioneers of flight recorded in Richard Holmes's original book "The Poor and the Poor: The Story of the Hot Air Balloon". Emilia Rennes is based on Sophie Blanchard, the first professional female pilot of hot air balloons in human history— her husband is Jean-Pierre Blanchard, a pioneer of hot air balloons, who continued to pursue her career in hot air ballooning after her husband's death, but she was killed in Paris in 1819 due to a hot air balloon accident.

Amelia Wren takes her name from Amelia Earhart, a female American pilot— and there's a movie about her called Emilia. The film also includes a fictional Indian character that feels completely out of place.

There are too many details in Hot Air Balloon Aviator to be convincing. At first, Emilia exaggerated various antics to please those who gathered to watch the balloon ascend to heaven. Later, James Gleicher recklessly disregarded his own and Amelia's lives in order to understand the weather. James didn't even bring warm clothes, and Emilia climbed to the top of the balloon without gloves.

Whether it's Emilia played by Felicity Jones, James Glasher played by Eddie Redmayne, or James' friend John Tru by Hýmish Patel, they all performed very well. The rest of the supporting actors are also very good. The visuals are also impeccable.

Director Tom Hubble should either make the story into a completely fanciful film or be completely faithful to real historical events. The problem is that despite his free play in the film, the film is still not attractive enough to be inspiring enough.

Tom Hubble declared: "I don't want two middle-aged men in a hanging basket. I hope that the film will bring reflection to contemporary audiences. "But can you accept a American Civil War movie in which a female president, not Lincoln, freed the slaves, or a historical film in which a female astronaut piloted Apollo 11 on man's first mission to the moon?"
